Entegra Resale Value

Has anyone, after purchasing new, resold (not traded in) an Entegra coach in the past few years?

If so what kind of depreciation did you experience?

You're not thinking of selling already, are you? I would think that as long as the factory backlog is, used might hold their value better than the average coach.

I don't think your going to get a lot of responses on this question. A little early. Some have traded up fromAspire to Cornerstone. Know of a few who had some life change events that resulted in offering 2013s for sale after 5-10000 miles. Rumor control would have them seeing a depreciation of 10-15% from original sales price. A few folks have suggested more. Keep in mind, that the coach has been in pretty high demand during the last year and a half...which helps, as the wait for buying new has been 3-4 months for most or more. JMHO

But I would offer, that all coaches depreciate, from MSRP (big time) and from actual purchase price (which people keep pretty close to the chest and can be distorted by trade ins as well). For me, I have to factor what I'm paying for the change in life style and how I use the coach against that depreciation. For me, the equation works. IMHO

Curt,
As per talking to Entegra Customer service manger on our last visit, he stated our coach was only valued to Entegra at 160K and if they bought it back they could only give 80% of the 160K. New MSRP of our coach was 331k. ( i had previously said 356K but was mistaken and correcting my numbers there!
As informed in another post to you, we were offered only 100k trade in on our coach Saturday via phone conversation! Our coach is alomost 2 1/2 years old with less than 7,000 miles! I would say looking at 25% depreciation when you drive one off the lot, or basically when you sign your name on the contract and finance one!
As stated though Entegra has best support out there!

I think that if you check most of the blue books they depreciate ALL motorhomes at least 23% when you drive it off the lot. No reason Entegra would be exempt from that because the books on rvs are not actual sales, just a flat percentage assumption. JMHO

Well, I am likely wrong, I have no personal knowledge. Just quoting several independent reviews of price guides that I looked up on the Internet, and you know what kind of trouble you can get into doing that. The reviewers that I read all claimed that the guides use actual sales on cars and trucks but on RVs use a flat percentage deduction for each year from new with add ons for options. So I do not know who to believe but a standard deduction from new price certainly has no real value or fairness for rv owners and advantage dealers, so I REALLY hope you are right and I am wrong.

That would be off what you paid .Otherwise you'd make a profit on the 25-35% discount you got off the msrp when purchased .

Entegras may have held up better in the past due to limited supply and almost non-existent used supply. With the new factory turning out 5 a day, I would expect any Entegra premium to disappear as supply increases greatly. Anybody who worries about depreciation should not buy a new coach, IMHO. It is worse than going to the casino. You are guaranteed to be a loser.

From what I've read, the 30% off MSRP might be a little high. I'd expect 25-30%.
The first year depreciation should be as you said appx 20-25% with 10-15% each year thereafter.

Not sure what you mean by "buyer cost to resale", but I can give your an example. I became friends with an Anthem owner who bought a 2013 used coach. Not sure of all the details with why the person sold their coach (through a dealer), but some type of life change. Given the timing of the first buyers purchase, they likely paid vicinity of $295K. The dealer listed this coach (less than 10K miles) for $289K. The person I know said (and have no reason to question) they negotiated and paid $272K. You can do the math.

That said, each deal is different, and this business seems to have a lot more price volatility than cars. As the previous respondent suggested, if depreciation is part of your equation, then maybe a used coach is a better choice, but they all are going to depreciate. Ask yourself how long you're going to have the coach and how much are you willing to pay for that lifestyle. If you buy at $300K, you plan at full timing, you see yourself doing it for 10 years (not unusual), and you no longer plan on a sticks and bricks abode....10 years later, the coach is worth $60K, that's $240K depreciation plus upkeep, camping fees, and fuel. Add $6K per year for fuel and $7500/year for campgrounds (kind of a mid-point...now your ten year costs for lodging is $375K or $37K a year. Compare that to your S&B costs today including utilities...probably comparable (please accountants and engineers, this is just a rough). You lose the appreciation you'd have gained on the real estate (maybe).

Now if you're not full timing...recalculate. Just sayin' ... you have to decide how and why you are looking at doing this...it is not an investment...even a Prevost.
