According to our computer we have averaged around 8.5 mpg over the life of our coach. I tend to travel 62-65 on interstates pulling a 3500 lb toad. I run in "economy" mode. The few times I have bothered to do "real" mpg calculations I have found the computer to be fairly accurate. Recently the computer was off by 0.1 mpg. That's pretty darn good in my book. The few times I have been in a hurry going 70+ my mpg drops down to 7.5 to 8.

Oh, Dave.... Just wait until I can join this discussion with real numbers. I'm real anal with numbers and will calculate mpg taking into account fuel used by the generator and by the burner in the aqua hot. I've got a spreadsheet that describes road and wind conditions so if mpg is down on one tank, I note that maybe we were in the mountains or had headwinds. Usually stick cruise on 62. I get all caught up in the calcs but still can laugh at myself. oh, by the way... I'm an X bank auditor!

We have traveled 16,000 miles with the coach, pulling a dinghy all over the country. We are getting 7.4 mpg overall. I generally travel 65 to 70. I found that our onboard computer is about a half a mile per gallon optimistic on fuel mileage. This overall number does include the aqua hot and generator, both of which are not used very much.

Gary - do you find that you can keep up with your hot water needs using the electric side of your aqua hot? I only ask this as you said you don't use the diesel side of the aqua very often.

???

Sound pretty close to me!

"...pulling a dinghy all over the country. We are getting 7.4 mpg overall. I generally travel 65 to 70..."

"...I typically drive 68-75mph and am in the 7.5mpg - 8.2mpg range with no toad..."

Yeah...well I was a math major and an engineer by trade so I guess I'm anal with numbers as well...especially with the ones that have a $ sign if front. So I'll be right there , worrying about how to make 7.8 become 8.2

Let's see, we have at least three accountants on this thread and at least one engineer. I'll guarantee that within a relatively short period of time we have detailed mileage records including wind, temperature readings, and speed calculations plus changes in elevation. Of course, those of us who are accountants will just have ledger or spread sheets on the data while Dave willl have his in a three ring tabbed binder!

Well, in addition to spending the last 15 years being an engineer, I've got an MS in Meteorology...I can probably get the windage right

And all I will say about mine (because I really do not figure it) is that it is not good mileage for a car but it IS GREAT MILEAGE FOR A HOUSE.
