Vito - I'm not Randy but looking at Entegra's website they list a Cummins ISX 600hp as the engine on the Cornerstone.

I went over this very topic as far as discount for new coaches with Entegra verse other makers.
I was told Entegra marks up the coach pre discount to make it look like you're getting a great discount and Thor is starting to do the same thing. Not sure how truthful it is but it is an interesting twist. people will think they are getting a great deal when in reality they are getting the same discount as they would going to Tiffin or Newmar.

Any thoughts on this? looking for our first couch and this comment from a dealer threw a wrench in the process.

To be clear. We really love the Entegra Aspire DEQ. love all the entegras. just not as experienced about MH's and want to get other opinions on what I was told.
thanks in advance.

Why worry about percent discount??? All you need to do is carefully compare all features of each coach then compare bottom line price, that is the only number that is important. All just my opinion.

+1

What really matters is, are you happy with the price you got for what you want?

I have to agree with Tom. The percent discount doesn't matter if I am getting more features for a better price. Comparing Tiffin and Entegra, you get one heck of a lot more goodies with the Entegra and whether the discount is 70% or 7% is irrelevant if you are getting more bang for you buck with the Entegra. I really don't see anything even remotely dishonest about the mark up practice. You can bet that every time you shop in Macy's or Penny's or even Sears that the "sale" price is still at or above what the store paid for the merchandise and the percentage of discount is irrelevant and only the bottom line matters.

But if they mark up the price, and you negotiate it down, you get bragging rights on the great deal you got! A win-win situation. LOL

What is diff. between K2 and K3 in the frame itself??
And you will need the extra ponies, the Cornerstone weighs a few feathers more than 25 tons...

Where this really comes into play is when you get ready to trade or sell the unit. When I was in the car business (in another life) we would look at the NADA value --WITHOUT-- the added options. Coach dealers do the same thing. So, when someone trades or sells (and if the person buying is getting financed the banker will also look at the NADA) the value is higher for the Entegra because all of the options are pretty much standard on the coach. As Gene would say----"all just my opinion"

Obviously discounts mean nothing. I agree what makes Entegra a good deal is value! But the only way to compare value, in my opinion, is price. When comparing Vehicles, I always compare msrp's. Entegra and tiffin have very similar msrp's and Newmars are a little higher. Comparing apples to apples(msrp's), I still feel Entegra is the best deal. So why the big % off with a 9 month lead time

Why the big discount with 9 months lead time?? Suspect it's the dealers competing to get the sales...

Say What???? IMO, it is actually the manufacturer's TOTALLY MADE UP amount, usually called MSRP, that means nothing. It is purely what THEY want it to be, and is not even a reflection of what the various components cost. It is somewhat a function of what the OEM thinks the market will bear, in relation to the competetion, but it's purely a number they make up.

I'm not bashing Entegra, and I agree they offer a fine coach-I've inspected them in person- but their value is in what you get for the bottom line purchase price, such as Spartan chassis and two-year coach warranty, plus the high level of CS after the sale, and not the discount % or the MSRP.

I think the answer to your question is that the discount is high because the MSRP is too. I also believe Entegra dealers are smart enough to know they don't "need" to discount as heavily as they have been doing while the brand was competing for recognition, because of the current high demand and long lead time. I bet the discounts come down a bit for future sales.

Ed, I'm not so sure the discounts will drop that much in the near future. You have three very large heavy hitter dealers all competing for the number 1 spot and that has to be good for the consumer. I think the small, sell two or three of the brand a year guys will be the ones who will lose out. I see Motorhome Specialist, Lazydays, and RVDirect all going after that top spot and all three seem to be very willing to deal.

THAT will be fine with me, hope you are correct!

I also hope the competition to be #1 volume dealer remains fierce, and I'm not worried that they are not making enough off each sale .......... The more they sell, the less they need to make off each one to keep the doors open.

Tiffin has approximately the same markup and discount. Noel
