Equalizer jack motor fail, 2015 Anthem

While on a trip, I could not get jacks to go down or up. I called Equalizer and talked to Randy for a temporary fix. He had me remove the access cover to the jack motor. I was told to loosen the two screws three turns, then tap the brass filling around the rubber plug several times. Jacks went up and down. He said if it does that the motor brushes are on their way out... and may work 5 or six more times before failure. That was about right. I had to remove the access cover again and jiggle that piece to get them to retract again.

Has anybody done the motor replacement? He said the motor is about $200 from them and takes about an hour of labor. Is this something I want to do myself or take up to Alvarado or Lewisville or other dealer?

Well if you want to do it yourself and have time you could find someone that can rebuild it for you. May end up saving yourself some money.

Our last coach was a National RV and when our motor for our Powergear levelers went dead I had it rebuilt for less than half the cost of a new one. Took sometime to pull the thing apart, but it’s doable.

If I can do it you can. I got a new motor from Forest River under warranty and my son and I installed it. That was several years ago and I remember we had a hard time lining the drive splines up. Finally threw away the instructions, and removed a part and attached it to the motor and slid it right in. Motor is available on Amazon. Google the part number.
