Extended RV warranties

Has any body looked into or have extended coach warranty, my Anthem is going out in june of this year, any help or past experiences would be welcome, my past experience with Jayco after my Seneca warranty expired was great, tech support had been helpful after the original warranty expired, I'm sure Entegra will also supply support after the factory warranty expires, A Great Company To Deal With , I've heard good and bad about Good Sam and a couple other companies, THANKS

Just remember that, by law they are not "warranties", they are service contracts. Bit difference in your rights under them.
I've seen posts where one person had a transmission failure, service co asked for his service records which they have a right to. They found that he was overdue on an engine oil/filter change and denied coverage since the owner didn't follow the service requirements. Kind of an extreme case but it does illustrate what can happen.

There will be lots of opinions on this subject. With the support of Entegra, I will, as in the past, be self insured. Not worth the hassle to get a "Mother May I" if a problem arises. I have no problem with the money in my account rather than an insurance companies account that may or may not pay. JMO.

Boils down to 2 basic questions, 1) how deep are your pockets to self insure to cover big $ repairs if they come up, and 2) how is your peace of mind doing self insure vs buying an extended warranty?

Like any insurance type product... not worth the money... unless you need something expensive fixed.
I have always looked at it from the stand point of what could I afford to fix at any given time without causing me a hardship.
Then get a deductible for that amount. For example if you get a $500 deductible the price will drop dramatically from the $50 or $100 they usually try to sell.

We bought the Coach net 5 year luxury100,000 mile, $200.00 deductible. Thought it was a pretty good policy for the money. We also bought the 5yr. roadside.

my 2 cents worth...

We now have our 8th RV. 7 have been diesel pushers. If I would have purchased the extended service plans on each one of them I believe I would have spent $60K-$70K total. They are always happy to add the cost to your mortgage when you buy a coach. The amount they add is then financed for the life of the contract so there's a lot of interest you get to pay as well. As far as "service" just pick up any RV magazine and turn to the "help" section and you'll see a lot of complaints about these plans. Lastly, I feel like I saved enough money by NOT buying these plans to pay for a new motor and transmission if I ever needed to. Most manufacturers have factory warranties on the motor/transmission for 3-5 years. Everything else I can afford to pay for. Just remember, if the advantage is with the consumer- the insurance companies wouldn't be offering this coverage.

I was in a computer store not long ago behind a guy buying a computer mouse. The cashier said "do you want the service plan with the mouse?" I forget what it cost but it was $4-$5, the guy said "that's ridiculous!" And the cashier said "do you want the service plan or not?" And he replied "well you have me over a barrel... yes". True story.

However, I'd never go RV'ing without a road side assistance plan (towing, flat tire, etc). It's just my opinion.

Thank you for your reply's, for as little we are using the coach at this time in my life i do think it would be a waste (?) to purchase and extended service contract, Spartan gives a 5yr 50,000 on chassis and a 5yr 100k on engine and drive train, my only concern is in the last 2 yrs Entegra has picked up the cost of several thousands of dollars in warranty repairs, i"m hoping this is the worst of the issues :face palm: i have to deal with, Thanks again for the reply's and i'll sleep on it
