Extended Warranty

We are picking up our Entegra - Aspire next week in Orlando. The dealer RVOne has offered a 7 year extended warranty. Are they worth buying and is there another alternative?

There are several good extended warranties out there...we use Good Sam...I would shop around a bit to see the pro's and Cons...and there is doubt you get what you pay for...

Flora,

Congrats on the new coach. Here's a link to good discussion held a while back in this forum:

On a second note, are you taking your new coach to the Entera Owners Summerfest? For more information, send me an email at entegrasummerfest@yahoo.com .

Enjoy your new coach - we love ours. Hope you have a chance to read the prior postings on extended warranties. It was a good discussion that, I think, covered both sets of opinions fairly. Hope we get to see you on the road....

They offered as it is high profit.
The price is negotiable.
The devil is in the details.
Once you read the posts you will know more.
You are now under warranty. A good one. Why not starts EW after warranty?

I self warranty.

I would never own a motorhome without the extended warranty. ... takes a bit of the worry and pain out of each visit to the repair shop. Motorhomes are not like cars, they have many things that can and do break .. new and old coaches included. We purchased our coach almost new and in 3 years here are some of the items that were covered under our warranty..... complete hydraulic system replacement approx 3000 value, alternator, isolator relay system 3 times, dash AC, and a coolant leak. Keep in mind that the warranty also covers the drive train and that an engine failure could cost thousands. Self warranty is a noble idea but the kitty should be in excess of 10,000 to be fully covered.

Each to their own devices I always say! And I wish the best to everyone.

Drive train failures are very rare if they are well maintained. If they are not, claims are most often denied.

I will never deny myself a claim. And the money I set aside keeps growing like an IRA.

Just sayin.....

Happy trails!

In Florida, the price of an extended warranty is not negotiable. It is controlled by the state. If they reside outside of Florida, live in a non-controlled state, purchase from someone other than the selling dealer, then they can negotiate.

Flora, congrats on your Aspire. We picked ours up last Oct and love it!! I too was offered a ext warrranty from Orlando. Both sides have legitimate arguments. We did buy one but found one MUCH cheaper and actually a better warranty. If interested , talk to wholesale warranties. Brittany was very helpful. I chose them after researching 3 different companies. PM me if you have any questions.

Just food for thought.
Any ESP you purchase is cheaper in the long run if you purchase when new. Otherwise it'll be a lot more expensive if purchased after the factory warranty.
