Exterior LED lighting
I have a 2012 Anthem...no exterior lighting to speak of....I'd like to add some strip lighting to the P/S front slide, just under the awning topper. But I'm in a quandary as to where to tap into the slide for power...anyone with this year of Anthem added lighting? And how you did it?

Just starting to talk about this on the "Tell Others About Your Mods" thread. Chuck is working on his Anthem now, and I am looking forward to his solution.

I just ordered all of the material today. It should be here in about 3 weeks as I ordered direct from the manufactures in China. I will be doing the front door awning lights and all 4 of the bottom of slides. Also the engine compartment and one other bay not exposed to the basement.
If you would like a material and supplier list PM your email address and I will send it in Word format. I will post the DIY project on the "Show us your Mods" post as soon as I get the parts.

If you are wanting to do LED's lights on your awning let me know if you have a wind sensor on your awning and a picture of where the power to it is and I can help you with how to install LED.s
There is a post on the Mods about adding a dimmer to existing awning lights. That will show you on the later models where power is located and some ideas on how to run the lights. Use that type of dimmer for your off and on switch and you won't have to run any additional power wires.

I don't have girand awnings, I have carefree. Also, just need to know where to hook up to power. I am assuming I need to tap a hole thru the side wall of the P/S front slide?

Is there any power to your Carefree? Is it manual or power? If it's power, where is the motor? A photo of your power setup to the awning and I might be able to help.

I found the picture of the Girard wind sensor box that sits in the leading edge. Notice the red wire on the right side coming out of the black tubing, (my finger is on it).....that is 12V, the ground is right behind it. If you have a motor wire or any kind of power on the leading edge of the Carefree, LED lights can be tapped into it. Just need to find a power source before the switch. You can see the Girard box is hot by the purple light in the center of it. (built in test light )
Using an inline switch like this, you can turn the LED's off with the remote and not have to mount a switch inside of the MH. 12V RF Wireless Remote Switch Controller Dimmer for Mini LED Strip Light New Fo | eBay
These are the same dimmers I added to the 2014 awning lights and it is working great. I did have to go through 6 of them to get 2 that worked, now I order 6 at a time. I will be using the same switches for the under slide lights or maybe one mounted rocker switch, or one rocker switch for each side...... I haven't decided yet. Power for the slide LED lights will be easy, it will come from the basement light wires before it's switched at the light.

No motors or wiring to attach to on the outside....led's have to be attached to the slide itself....just have to find the easiest and closest power source....which looks like I'll have to find that spot to drill into to find some wiring to hookup the led's to.

If you can wait a few weeks until my materials arrive, I am going to post wiring awning LED's to the door awning and the bottom of the slides in the Mods post. Maybe you can get some ideas from those photos.
You can also call CS and they will email you a wiring diagram of where the power is close to where you want to install the awning lights. They can aslo tell you the easiest way to get to it.

Chuck, as I told you before my awning lights were blowing fuses. Tech at LD replaced the strip on the awning above the entry door and so far no problems. I was a bit skeptical that a bad strand on that one would blow the one on drivers side but so far so good.

Glad it's working Roy. I have learned one thing about LED's......they are cheap and not of the best quality. Girard has supposedly gone to a new supplier and not having as many problems, but you have those on your 2015. Thanks for the update, at least they are easy to replace and fix the problem. The entry door awing on my 14 is a Carefree. Found that out yesterday when we needed parts.
I bought all LED security lights for my commercial building that are suppose to have 50,000 hours of life. Two of the bulbs went out in 30 days.. Still worth it, the first two months electricity savings just about paid for all of the bulb upgrade.

I just thought it odd that a bad strand on circuit 37 would blow fuse on circuit 38. But there is so much to learn in this motorhome life and some is strange. I just looked again and the tech did replace the 5 amp fuse on both with 10 amp. It's working.

On my 2013 Aspire DEQ, I drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the side of the slide, fead the 12v cable trough, removed the microwave oven, plugged the transformer in the outlet of the microwave, plugged the 12 v in the transformer.
The transformer is behind the microwave.
I only turn it off went traveling, its bin on for more than a year now.

I forgot to mention that the IR module is tugged away in awning.
