Why not call Spartan and ask to speak to Charlie. I believe he can fill you in on the idle situation or you can ask that Big Mike give you a call. We were advised at Spartan training to avoid long idle times if possible especially at start-up as I recall. Stuck in traffic may be a different situation as the engine is at operating temp.

Just completed a weekend trip of 617 miles without a reoccurrence of the fault code. Quite a bit of that was stop and go driving in Houston and Dallas. Into the shop later this month for ECM updates……….

You know...there are a lot of sensitive electronics and sensors in these beasts. I tend to minimize idle.

That said, after setting still for four months, did all the normal start up stuff, pulling things in, and then moved to the toad staging area. Turned the beast off. Hooked up. Started up, and oh no...the infamous ABS fault (those that know my travels back in Spring 2013 will understand). Turned off, restarted...same. Shifted into gear, moved twenty feet and light went off, not to return.

So my view...don't borrow trouble. If the warning goes off, then move on till the next "warning" for something else goes off. Chances are it is just a false signal sent for just a moment. If it doesn't go off. then start to worry. JMHO, you can worry yourself into an early grave with these technological "marvels"???!!!

John

Keep us all advised of what happens as you go into the shop. ECM updates were what Houston SP did for me while I was in the shop and it did not help. It appears that the problem did not resolve until another shop installed a new "SCR monitoring system". I will be interested in following your situation.

Will do. As I stated in the previous post it did fine on the trip but I still want to get it checked out. Cummins has changed the parameters for alarms in the ECM since my build date but I'm taking your write up with me just in case.

I might also be joining the list of radiator replacements. I've been losing a small amount since I picked up the coach and I finally spotted a small coolant drip from the pan under the radiator. Crawling under the coach today to check hose clamps and make sure that's not the problem. I had already had them add a pressure test to the to do list when the coach goes in.

Also been meaning to give a thumbs up to Dave at Spartan. When this happened he was working hard to get me in somewhere and not delay our trip.

I will be picking mine up tomorrow from Cummins Southern Plains in Houston. It is in for DEF repairs.
