Filled the DEF tank the other day
Seems Flying J and Loves have their DEF pumps on the driver side, which meant I had to turn the coach around at a Loves to access the DEF pump.
Any truckstops that have the DEF pump on both sides of the fueling station?

We do quit a few DEF installs in the Chicagoland / NM Indiana area and have yet to install DEF on both drivers and pass. side. not sure what RV Industry or chassis manufacturers were thinking when they went differently than trucking , some sites will do all islands and others only a few and identify on canopy those lanes that have it, may be different in other parts of country.

It's very simple really. RVer's do not use these coaches enoungh. When DEF started first coming out on motorhomes, there were plenty of blogs about people filling the wrong tank with diesel.
Truckers have both fills right next to each other. The motorhome factory's don't want to receive the calls of customers filling the wrong tanks.
Years ago, On-Star offered their services to motorhomes, Country Coach, etc., and it turned out to be such a mess with people calling them about water heaters not working, etc., that On-Star cancelled all services.
Just my 2-cents.

That sounds like a reasonable explaination , But gee wiz, if we all made enough money to buy these things ( I guess we had a few good brain cells) we should be able to figure out what the big blue cap that says DEF on it stands for, but I'll go with your explaination.

we haven't found any truck stops with DEF on both sides...nor have we yet to find a truck stop that is not busy enough for us to turn around and go in to where we can directly reach the DEF tank....so we use a 5 gallon gas jug to pump DEF into and then transfer to DEF tank to fill, then top off 5 gallon jug for later use...

So do lots of DP's, ours have all had fills on both sides and I've used the satellite pumps at times. Sure doesn't take long to put 100+ gallons (150 gallon tank) in that way!

Good case for buying an older model DP coach before all those pollution control devices were mandated.

DEF isn't a big deal. one of the advantages is that it nearly eliminates the diesel smell from the engine . doesn't smell up the shop when starting up the M/H or when backing it in. and, we only have to add it every 3000 - 3500 miles.

The DEF tank holds 10 gallons. Mine uses a little over 1.5% of the amount of diesel fuel you use, so if you average 7.5 mpg (very reasonable with my experience, if you are careful you can beat this), that would mean 750 miles per 100 gallons of diesel and use about 1.5 gallons of DEF. That is very close to what we are using in the first 16,000 miles of use. Our most recent trip on the last 1009 miles from Dickinson, ND to Stillwater, Ok we used 124.8 gallons of diesel for over 8.15 mpg, ran genny most of that time as temps were very high. Just my experience and opinion.

I haven't had to put any DEF, from the pump, in my coach yet. I have put in 2.5 gal from a container. My coach has a 12 gallon tank and I'm burning DEF at about 2% or 2 gallons DEF for every 100 gallons of diesel.
Could you not use the DEF pump, in the adjacent lane, on the passenger side?

I was told by Joyce that the 2012 Aspire DEF tank held 15 gallons. Can anyone else clarify that? In 2000 miles it has only went down less than 1/4 tank.

My 2012 Ford F350 has the diesel and DEF right next to each other.
