Firepits

We are running into more and more campgrounds that do not have firerings but they allow fires if you provide the firepit. For those who carry a portable firepit ring in their bus, if you can get to yours, is it possible for you to provide me a picture of the one you have, and it's dimensions so I can forward it to one of "Santa's elves"?

I do not own one but have seen them in use. They break down to stow away. Heavy duty. Dimensions in add. They are made in Minn.

The internet term portable rv fire pit returns quite a bit of stuff, including propane fire pits.

Propane fire pit....

Here is what we use hooked to a 20# bottle. The pit came with the red lava rocks, we added the fireplace logs, the higher you stack them, the higher the fire.........as the flames wonder up through the pile..... It came with a heavy duty cover, so when we are done with it, after cooled down, put it on a slide tray.........gone. On damp nights we use it under the awning........warms it up nicely under it........

An old Dayton wheel would do the job and be very inexpensive.

I don't carry a fire pit with me but I might (or could) now that I have room in my enclosed trailer. On the other hand, I haven't really run to any issue during my travels with finding a fire pit. What I do carry is firewood. I go to home depot and purchase 2x4s and have it cut down into multiple even pieces. It stacks easy, its dry and doesn't leave a mess like the chopped wood and bugs don't like it.

I don't have a pic, but camping word sells a portable that folds up into a 24"X 8" bag...works great. Even for a group of about 10 folks watching The Batchelor on a cool night in Aug 2013 in Michigan.

I've seen where tree ring blocks were used. One set upright and another set place upside down on top of the others.

We bought a portable propane firepit at Lowes for $99, it works great, runs off of a 20# propane tank. It puts off alot of heat, and cools down quickly. It stows away easily in any of my storage compartments. One tank lasts for about 4 nights, so it is less expensive than firewood, and you don't bring the smoky smell back into your MH.

What Mike said. I have the Lil Red Campfire from Camping World. It works fine. Since I bought it I read from several forum members they like the one from Lowes (cheaper), and it has great reviews. I'd buy the Lowes one if doing it over. Pic below of Lowes $99 version.

I use a old tub out of a washing machine. For a top I use expanded metal sheet bent to fit. Goes into a cardboard box in the bed of the TV for transport.

I have this one that folds into it's own carrying case. No mess when carrying it in the MH. I bought mine at Target. Caught it on sale for $49.95.
