First 2014 delivered to Canadian Dealer

For those who have been waiting to see a new 2014 Anthem (DEQ) you can view the pictures, description, price, etc. at Sicardrv.com
This is the dealer that we recently purchased our 2014 Anthem from. They are a new Entegra dealer and the remainder of their inventory won't arrive until the 1st of August along with our coach.
I don't think you will see many changes, but for those who were waiting....here it is.

Very nice looking rig. I'm sure that Buffalo RV isn't overly thrilled to have an Entegra dealer this close to them. But, hey competition can only help the consumer.

A Canadian dealer was really needed (for tax reasons). I don't think many Canadians would have purchased from Buffalo RV - they would have purchased from the Manitoba dealer so I don't think Buffalo RV will loose many deals.

Actually quite a few Canadians purchase rigs here. In fact the first Entegra I ever saw was a Cornerstone that was going to a couple in Toronto. With Buffalo RV being less than 100 miles from Toronto it made the dealer a viable sales point. It's funny that an acquaintance of mine from Toronto suggested I contact the Smithville dealer regarding an American Coach/Fleetwood.

Being here on the border we joke that we are Toronto's largest suburb and at times it seems that way.

In that case, I guess you are correct.....Buffalo RV has some competition. Sicard RV is a class act with great pricing and a reputation for awesome customer service.

Hey Dianne,
We are Canadians and we purchased from Orlando RV. (same company as Buffalo RV). We saved quite a lot when comparing to available pricing from Canadian dealers - between 35 and 40 k. I saw no tax advantage in buying through Canadian dealer and we bought at 32% off MSRP. How is Canadian pricing now as regards MSRP? What do you see as tax advantage?

We're you pleased with the buying experience through them? That's where I just put a deposit on an Entegra. (Florida)

Some of their sales people are excellent ... service can be found better. Recommend when your coach comes in, take all the time you need to become acquainted with it and get all done that you need to get done before you leave their lot.

The great thing is, you are buying into the best customer service in the business with Entegra, JMHO.

We had priced the Anthem at 3 of the top US dealers and Sicard RV beat all their pricing. Because our trade was worth 200K we paid the 13 percent tax (ouch) only on the difference after trade in value which saved us an additional $26,000. If we purchase in the US we pay tax on the full price of the new coach regardless of trade-in value. I'm not certain that this is the case for all provinces or just Ontario. So for us the choice was clear

Wally and Dianne,

On the sales tax issue, you would not pay sales tax here in NY for a Canadian purchaser, but would they make you pay the tax on the MSRP in Canada rather than the trade difference? Here in NY I would only pay tax on the difference after my trade. Would Canada tax you on the full value and ignore the trade value?

Just curious as I have a lot of Canadian clients who have businesses on both sides of the river.

Ed

Just to clarify....if we purchase a new RV in Ontario we pay the 13% sales tax on the net price (after trade-in allowance). If we buy in the US and then import into Canada the sales tax is IMMEDIATELY due at the border and it is paid on the full retail price of the vehicle (no allowance for trade-in). We checked this out thoroughly to see if there was any way around which there is not. As Canadians they find ways to get as much tax from us as possible (to pay for our FREE health care I guess)

Thanks Dianne for the clarification. I know your taxes on the other side can be brutal. As you have stated, someone has to pay for the "free" stuff. Our malls here are packed every weekend with Canadians getting bargains and avoiding some sales taxes. I have no complaints about that at all. If it wasn't for the Canadians we wouldn't even have the malls we have.

Safe travels to you!

Dianne,
Yes I see the advantage due to the fact you had a trade, In our case we bought with no trade so this was not an issue to us. In future should we decide to buy again we will look at this new dealer. Hope you love your Anthem as much as we love ours.
