Bob, I know to others that sounds like a lot, but it really isn't . I have similar steps for the electronic transfer case on the Colorado. After a couple of times it becomes second nature. I know it's not as easy as a jeep, but the ride is soooo much nicer.

Very similar to the procedure on my Lincoln MKX. Intimidating at first, but not if you use a step by step list like the one posted above. Using the list, it can be done easily and quickly.

Safe travels and towing

Thanks Bob!!

Using my owners manual and your steps I was able to figure it out for my 2018 Expedition.

We are picking up a 2012 Mountain Aire 43 with the 450, so I have to ask - how is the power when towing your Navigator?

No problem with the 450 towing the 2019 Navigator L, except it's another foot or more longer than our previous MKT so more care is needed in cornering due to the overall length of the RV and the Navigator combination. We also no longer needed the drop-down tow bar attachment which we had to use for the MKT.

NB: As a last step to the instructions for setting up the Navigator, be sure to press the engine start button one last time with your foot off the brake pedal to get out of accessory mode so that there's no drain on the battery from the message on the screen when towing. The message re being in tow mode will then disappear within 15-30 seconds after you get out and close the door.

Safe travels,

Bob

Good tip Bob. Another thing to remember is to change the alarm setting to Perimeter.

18 19 navigator does require the 2 speed transfer case...almost NONE on dealer lots have the 2 speed case.

so double check before you buy one

The internal Ford/Lincoln alarm system.

They have settings for Interior, Perimeter or none.

With two German Shepherds that we leave in the car sometimes and then restart after locking we have to remember to set to perimeter. But, this shuts off the engine after 15 minutes.....

Yes, the alarm on the vehicle. Perimeter will sound an alarm if there is a penetration of the perimeter. Interior, or whatever it’s called will sound an alarm when you begin towing.

Ask me how I know!

I wonder what kind of sensors they are using inside. I always assumed a normal motion sensor, but that wouldn't see motion thru the glass, only inside.

My dog's have set it off lot's of times.....

FYI, here is what I just set up to tow..

..just a bit more beef than my F-150.

I’m amazed the cart fits in and above the bed, without removing anything.

Now if I could figure out 2 remaining questions:

-How to remotely fire up the pickup an have it help push up hills?

-How to connect a fuel line to the coach so I can add 48 gallons usable.

Just kidding.

Tim, I really have no idea. I set mine off by accident the other day when a toll tag mounted with suction cups fell from the inside of the windshield and landed on the console.

Ah, that would be nice....

My 2004 F-250 just won't flat tow......

Plus, our golf cart won't fit in the bed. For our Disney trips we drive separate with my wife driving the Expedition towing the golf cart on a trailer.

Maybe she will let my buy a new F-250 someday.

Somewhere I must be missing a step as each time I go from flat tow to normal mode the battery runs down on the Expedition.

Now, we have never towed it, I was just practicing in the driveway. I’m in the coach now looking into the shop where they are setting up the Expedition.

Maybe if I’m actually towing and then driving it after normal mode I won’t miss anything.....
