Floorplan Question

It is very hard to get to see Entegras on the RV sales lots so we did the factory tour last week. One thing that really bothered me was the lack of access to the bedroom when the slides are in. Is this the way it is on all the models and floorplans?

On our 2013 Aspire 42RBD, the rear bathroom/bedroom is blocked by the bed when the slides are in
But since we rarely need to head to the larger bathroom/bedroom on the road, the mid bath is just fine

Thanks Robert for the info. What we noticed on the unit we looked at, which I believe was a DLQ was that you could not get into the bedroom with the slide in. Maybe Olive Oyl from the Popeye series could, but no adult human that I know could fit through the small opening. My concern was that all of the floorplans resulted in that scenario which just wouldn't work for us.

The one thing that comes to mind for us would be easy access when at a rest stop. All you would need to do is run the Slide out enough to squeak thru. Not too big of a deal since you don't have to put the jacks down first. Are you looking for access while the wife is driving so you can take a nap?

I think that access is a big deal also. There are many times we lay jackets, etc on the bed that we may or may not need that day, but with the DLQ floor plan you can not get in to get them with out shutting the engine off and rolling a slide out, a many times dangerous proposition in a rest stop. Besides, one of the great advantages of the motorhome is to be able to take a quick cat nap to refresh during the middle of the day, again you have to shut the engine down and roll a slide out. Certainly not ideal. I am hoping Entegra will come up with a solution to this without losing the hamper and linen closet in the 44 DLQ VERY SOON. I know that they are aware of it and are looking at options. Everything in an rv is a trade off and we all know that, still we all strive for the "perfect" floor plan and it has not emerged yet, in my opinion.

I have a solution to the problem. Put your spouse in the bedroom before you close the slides.

The last time I put a spouse somewhere that I wasn't, it cost me a LOT of money!

I've mentioned the problem as I saw it to Entegra. We'll see if they can come up with a solution. I see the industry moving toward more family freindly units. As we were told at the Entegra factory....entertain 6, feed 4, and sleep 2. I don't think that is practical in today's market. For example, the family friendly ad on the back of the FMCA magazine showing the "typical" Prevost family. There are a lot of companies now that offer bunk models even in a tag axle format.

We just sold an older 43' motor home. Would love to own an Entegra but need to sleep at least 4 maybe 6. Entegra needs to build a 42' bunk house. I really don't want to buy a 40' Phaeton or the 43' Charleston bunk house.
When the lady from Entegra called me to find out if I had received the brochures, I mentioned this to her.

When we stopped at the Entegra factory in Middlebury we also caught the Forest River factory in Elkhart. They had a Charleston Bunk model that they were just finishing up and it was pretty nice. Not quite an Entegra, but something that was a heckuva lot more family friendly.

I think the floor plan questions will be answered by Entegra in the not too distant future. I KNOW that they are planning on adding another line of coaches in the 36, 38 and 40 ft. range and are also actively pursuing new floor plans. With the backlog of units on order, I am sure some expansion of the factory is going to have to come first on the new line but new floor plans could come at any time. There is one new floor plan that is supposed to be on the market in September (do not know what it is only that it exists) and they have promised others to follow. Entegra has promised and seems to be staying true to a philosophy of moving ahead and expanding slowly while putting a lot of effort into quality control and enhanced features in the present line of coaches. They have not expanded production at the expense of quality and I expect that philosophy to continue. All just my opinion.

I disagree

The quality control in the paint department is terrible. Now, I have to spend MY time to bring this to a paint shop that can handle a rig this size, leave it there, to have them fix the orange peel around windows, the cargo doors and remove the over spray on the radiator.

Precision Paint clear coated it looking this way and Entegra accepted it

They also attached the door awning on top of a 3/8 inch raised seam, directly above the door, then attempted to seal the gap with some sort of material. Looks like crap. Also, only half of the front door remains dry, the forward part get flooded, from the roof's rainwater POURING down the 7/8 inch wide, 7 inch long gap forward of the raised seam.

It's like putting new sheetrock ON TOP on window molding

This isn't like finding a rattle in a window, or a pocket door that came off it's track in 2 months of ownership. It was assembled this way

What quality control?

No question they screwed up. Both quality control and precision let it get by and it should NOT happen. Having said that, I read here that they are aware of the problem now and are taking steps to see that those screw ups are not repeated. They could have ignored the problem, fixed yours and hoped others would not see the problem until the warranty had expired etc. Point is they did not do that, they acknowledged the screw up and are working to see that it does not continue. I am totally with you, you should not have had this problem and you should not be inconvenienced and loose use of your coach to get it fixed. Somebody screwed up and they need to be identified, remediated or removed from the process.

If it were me and I was having Entegra build me a coach, I would ask for a Murphy Bed similar to the one used in the Gulfstream Tour Master Constellation.

I have always said that the queen or king bed in the bedroom of most RV's is a waste of space during the day and by having a Murphy Bed, it provides so much more living space for use when you are not sleeping.

My next coach if I ever have one (Lotto dependent) will definitely have a Murphy Bed with an entertainment center.

You can see the Murphy Bed in action at this link. Check out the photos.
