FM Radio Reception

We seem to have a problem with radio reception on our mid-ship entertainment center. We get good reception on the bedroom DVD player when we put it on FM, but almost nothing on the mid-ship one. Is anyone else having an issue of this type? So far I haven't been able to find anything nor has the dealer who has the coach for other things.

I know it's just a strip antenna but the fact that the bedroom picks up stations that the other one doesn't seems to point to an issue.

There are antenna analyzers that could tell you definitively, unfortunately they are expensive and finding some one who has one could be difficult. We have an external FM/AM radio antenna and a marine XM antenna (some of the places we go there is no FM or stations we would listen to). How about replacing the strip antenna?

Maybe it's just the location of the antenna. The bedroom one is on an outside wall and the other buried in mid coach cabinetry.

Ah Ha.... That may well be it. I'll put an upgraded antenna somewhere and see what happens.

Thanks

Mine works well with the standard antenna. But I hardly ever listen to FM, much prefer Sirius or Pandora.

Our radio, in our new Aspire is terrible. If we are not within 20 miles of the radio station, there is no reception, AM or FM. I will have to check to see if the antenna is even hooked up. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

As noted above, some of us are having the issue - others aren't so maybe there is a connection issue. 20 miles? How about 1/2 mile!

Poor AM/FM reception

My new 2013 Aspire has the worst reception I have seen. As stated above 20 miles is the max with FM and even less with AM. As I understand the ground plane is important for an antenna to work properly, a fiberglass coach has a very poor ground plane. AM requires a better antenna ...My other coach had poor reception as well but this is much much worse....

2013 Anthem. Terrible reception. I would probably give it just above the 1/2 mile range. I gave up listening to it. It's on my Middlebury list.

Unless you go to an external antenna, it will never be very good. Who gets good fm reception in the stix and bricks place with the little piece of wire that they give you with all home stereos which is what Entegra is essentially installing? Go with an external antenna or with what MRUSA said.

Or spend 12-14 a month, or less if you already have in your car, and add Sirius-XM.

Are all Entegra coach's set up for Sirius-XM radio? Entegra could have left the AM-Fm radio out of our coach if it doesn't work any better than this.

I agree on Sirius XM, but I think that is through the dash radio. The Entertainment Center radio should have better sound at least in theory and wouldn't require the ignition to be on. (I might well be missing something here.)

Pandora is over the internet so that uses up our Hotspot Gigabytes (Thanks Verizon). Of course on those occasions where there is decent WiFi at the resort it's a great option.

I guess I'm just old fashioned, but I enjoy the local FM stations playing good country music with DJ's providing a bit of conversation. In my dream world we'd have all three options.

I live wayyyy out in the country and had to get an amplified antenna and don't mind doing it if that's the answer.

My coach came with an ~18" whip with a spring at the bottom. It's mounted at the top, front, center of my MH and does great except in the Dateland, AZ area. I just slip in a CD of my favorite music until I can pick up the Yuma stations.
