Excellent savings but you quote the difference between a retail out the door price vs just the tire costs through FMCA. Where did you find a participating FMCA shop that installed them for free? Installation varies from $60 to $80 per tire and in our area each shop gets from $10 to $20 disposal fee. Those costs would account for over half the savings through FMCA. I believe Spartan charges $660 for install if you get the tires from FMCA to them.
I'm not knocking the FMCA plan but I just replaced all the Michelins on our Anthem. I would have a hour drive to the nearest shop that participates in the FMCA plan and leave the coach overnight. Taking that fuel and time into consideration it closely matches the cost I was quoted by three local truck tire stores for the tires including install. I checked in detail with three local outlets for Michelin truck tires and all three were very competitive and within a few hundred dollars out the door with the FMCA plan. Plus to sweeten the deal they gave me an excellent price on a new set of skins for the toad.
My understanding is the tire provider basically gives the FMCA shop $50 per tire and they can make more by not participating and avoid the hassles they claim of the plan.
Best case the FMCA plan may work well for some but I did not find it to be an advantage at the end of the day in my area. JMHO
