FMCA Tire Program

I bought 6- 275/80r22.5 rear and 2- 295/80r22.5 front Michelin tires. The tire shop quoted me $6925.19 balanced, tax and installed. The FMCA charged me $5608.07 for a savings of $1317.12. WOW That pays for a lot of membership.

I've used the FMCA tire program for my cars as well. The special prices are better than I can get typically from the tire dealers.

Wow! That tire shop was set to really rip you off!

Five years ago I bought six Michelin 235x80 22.5 tires. I asked the tire shop what they would charge for the tires without the FMCA discount. I dont recall the exact figures but accounting for a one year membership in FMCA, I saved a total of $150, not $150 per tire, but $150 over all.

Excellent savings but you quote the difference between a retail out the door price vs just the tire costs through FMCA. Where did you find a participating FMCA shop that installed them for free? Installation varies from $60 to $80 per tire and in our area each shop gets from $10 to $20 disposal fee. Those costs would account for over half the savings through FMCA. I believe Spartan charges $660 for install if you get the tires from FMCA to them.

I'm not knocking the FMCA plan but I just replaced all the Michelins on our Anthem. I would have a hour drive to the nearest shop that participates in the FMCA plan and leave the coach overnight. Taking that fuel and time into consideration it closely matches the cost I was quoted by three local truck tire stores for the tires including install. I checked in detail with three local outlets for Michelin truck tires and all three were very competitive and within a few hundred dollars out the door with the FMCA plan. Plus to sweeten the deal they gave me an excellent price on a new set of skins for the toad.

My understanding is the tire provider basically gives the FMCA shop $50 per tire and they can make more by not participating and avoid the hassles they claim of the plan.

Best case the FMCA plan may work well for some but I did not find it to be an advantage at the end of the day in my area. JMHO

Nice price Thor.

I see Jestal's post and believe the install price can vary quite a bit depending on the location. My price on Michelin's averaged about what your's did, and mime were installed in a smaller town, just north of Dallas. I do think some of the truck tire stores are fairly competitive on tires if you look around. You will love the drive and ride. Let us know how it is.

If you go to a commercial truck tire shop you can get at least $100 each in trade for the old 275's as they are used for truck trailer tires. On my 06 Diplomat I got $100 each for the 5 year old 275 Goodyears I had on the drive and $200 each for the 2 year old Continentals I had on the steer for a total of $800. Anything above 275 will have a value but not as much.
