Someone in an Anthem backed into their site at 4am with the backup alarm engaged. Was surprised Disney let them do it. Happened on the morning of the 19th. Obviously, backing a 45' coach up in tight quarters is a challenge, but in the dark! Bad form...

We arrive after dark quite often (it happens when one still works) how is that bad form? Or were you just referring to the back up alarm(mine was unplugged the first day).

I usually run with the backup alarm disconnected.
Going (way back) to my youth I drove a summer for Greyhound. They had a company policy that when backing you turned on your emergency flashers.
I still do this even when backing the car out of a parking pace. Just an extra safety precaution. Also try to have wife spotting me. That way if I err, I am ensured of a critique of my misdeeds

The transit company I drove a city bus for had a policy prohibiting backing up unless the driver completed a 7 step checklist which included contacting dispatch by radio or datalink to send a supervisor in a car to act as spotter.

The school district I drove a school bus for didn't allow a driver to back up unless he/she turned on the 4 way flashers and honked the horn before moving. If at an afternoon stop all students getting off had to wait until the backing was completed. If at a morning stop all students had to be boarded before backing was started.

I would install a backup alarm on my coach if I could switch it off at night as I often arrive after dark. I did install 6 LED lights that illuminate the entire sides of the coach from ground level to tree limb level. It was a very expensive lesson learned one night in a SC state park designed in the 30's with tent campers instead of RVers in mind. I don't use them in campgrounds unless absolutely necessary and only long enough to check tight clearances.

The alarm. I couldn't believe the driver didn't disable it. That's the bad form. Most of us can handle the low rumble of a diesel engine, but the irritating beeping of a backup alarm at 4am, for over fifteen minutes, is unnecessary.

The backup horn is one of the most irritating things ever installed on a MH. Using it day or night by someone that does not know how to back up a MH, then to advertise it by having an obnoxious horn is the epitome of rudeness. Nothing worse than to be enjoying your paid for site, day or night, only to have a construction horn trying to park next door. The earlier MH's that did not have DOT approved horns worked just fine. Like others, mine was disconnected before leaving the dealers lot.

Cool

Well, now that I realize some folks are offended by it, I guess I'll disconnect mine too . . . .
