we have a 2012 anthem and the black tank sensor "appears" to be fouled. tried everything to "clean" it... any of you guys with 2011 or 2012 Entegras have this problem? sensors read good in the beginning, but now shows 2/3 full when empty and full within a day or so. we know that the sensors Entegra uses are a probe type that are inserted from the top with a wire to the readouts. as stated, we haven't been successful in cleaning them (assumption is that there may be paper fouling the probe).

I gte the best results when I just run one of the cleaning wands available at RV supply places down the toilet and move it around so it hits the sensors with a stream of water. Easy and effective. My sensors are close to the toilet opening so this is efective for me, perhaps for you depending?

Those sensors are rarely accurate. Any little thing can throw them off. Get to know your usage and tank size, and you will begin to get a feel for when it's about full. Don't rely on a sensor. I haven't fooled with those sensors in years.

As a FYI the sinks from the bathroom vanity also run into the black tank. If you're running those sinks often your black tank is filling faster which may lead to the tank showing full more frequently than anticipated.

If you haven't tried it yet, pour in a small bottle of pine sol, fill the tank to the top, let it sit overnight and then open the valve with tank rinse operating. This cleared mine up. The paper we used from a local RV dealer was the culprit.
Didn't know that any sinks went into the black tank....hmm.

in the 2012 42RBQ it's only the 1/2 bath sink that drains into the black tank (pretty insignificant amount of water)

You really have only a few choices with black tank sensors. You can, like many of us, ignore them as they rarely will stay right long even when you do get them working. You can have fun with various methods to clean the sensors. There are enough home remedies for cleaning the sensors that you could probably try a different one every week for a year and not repeat. You can invest in the See Level or other external gauges. Pricey but at least you will know what level your tank is at.

Most of us who spend a lot of time in our rvs have learned to tell by sound when the tank is near full. We dump our black tank when it burps.

there are getting to be more and more of us who have at least one or more "power" type flushing toilets, which the black tank, should not be allowed to "over fill" for the pure fact that the flushing system can be "fouled" and it will stop working until it gets fixed. dumping any black tank when it is not 3/4 full or more will create it's own problems, so having some kind of working sensoring gauges is fairly important. the standard straight drop toilets are not as dependent on an accurate sensor, sense the user can see the level of the black tank, you can't see the level of the tank with a power flushing toilet. Thus, an accurate sensor system is getting to be more and more a necessity, at least very important.
