Fridge Issue

Finally decided to Google "GE fridge stuck in defrost mode." Seems that while it is not common, it is not unusual. The bad side of it is that if power is cycled it resets itself until it decides to act up again. The symptoms are exactly what we experienced last week. Remedy is a motherboard replacement.

I'll post our progress. I am confident that Entegra and MHSRV will take care of us.

As I told CS, our fridge lost its mind and the GE tech should be able to perform a brain transplant. The question is, will he?

BTW, we have a Kitchenaid fridge in our S&B and are happy with it. Kitchenaid, GE, Whirlpool and Sears are all the same manufacturer so we don't have an inferior product in our coaches, I just got one with an issue.

I'm inclined to think everything is now an inferior product .....

Vance the same thing happened to the GE in our S&B house. They changed the board and that enede the problem. The problem would be, it was in the back of the fridg which means a fridg pull in the MH.

Similar problem in our prior coach - very clever design by GE. The motherboards's access cover was directly below the entry for the water line to the icemaker. You can probably guess the rest. Whoever has that coach will never find water leaking into the opening.

The GE technician is supposed to show up at MHSRV tomorrow to check out my fridge.

I don't have a lot of confidence that anything will happen. None of the CS people seem to understand or acknowledge the issue, that includes Entegra, GE and MHSRV. MHSRV said it was plugged in several days, made lots of ice without issue. Entegra keeps saying to put blankets in it to replicate a full freezer since that reduces efficiency. No one seems to listen to understand that it was not an efficiency issue, it got warm!

Last time we threw away 4 days of food and put up with loud equipment in the coach for 3 days. If we get reimbursed for the dry-out all is fine for the last event. If nothing is done to our fridge and it happens again I won't be so understanding.

I hope Entegra reads this post. They read the thread and picked up that the fridge started working 12-14 hours after the flood. They suggested it was a non-issue since it started working again.

Darn that is one of those issues...why didn't it just quit completely. I guess I was lucky in the stick house GE, there was a burned spot in the middle of the board, no coming back from that one. I would be really curious what caused yours to stop for "just awhile".

GE fridges getting stuck in defrost is a known issue, if any of the CS involved chooses to acknowledge it. It is also known to temporarily "heal" itself, emphasis on "temporarily." The repair is to replace the motherboard.

I should know by the end of the day. PITA for MHSRV, they should be finished with my other items but GE will show 8-5:00 today. They will have to pull it back in the barn, pull the fridge out then put it back in. That is, if the GE guy acknowledges the need to replace the motherboard.

I hope I'm just "borrowing a jack" and all will work out.

I just talked to JP at MHSRV. The GE technician made it there and replaced the motherboard! I'm not sure who, or if, I need to give an extra thanks to, maybe the GE technician knew the issue and did what was right or maybe one of the Entegra or MHSRV CS guys gave it a nudge. Whichever way it was we are very glad it is fixed!

ALRIGHT!! That is CS at it's best. No more sleepless nights wondering if it's going to happen again. The motherboard was less the $100 on my GE and it's cheap fix for everyone involved. Glad everything worked out Vance

I sent an attaboy email to Entegra and MHSRV for their CS support. It surpasses anything I have experience with so tend to be a little skeptical that issues will work out satisfactorily. They have every time so far.

I am learning to have faith in Joyce and her crew. And gaining faith in JP and his crew at MHSRV, he's doing the best he can but has a huge elephant to eat each week!
