I only use fuel additives for storage, not for every fill up. When I didn't use it after I sold the TS it got algae. With our heat and humidity in FL storing without fuel protection is asking for problems. I use to use Diesel Fuel Additives - Stanadyne blue label, but my sources is out of business. I have used the additive at Walmart before and it's OK. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Diesel-Fue...32-oz/16644698 HEET also makes water remover for diesels, also at Walmart. I have used that when I have had water in the fuel and it does works. It is in a red bottle not the yellow for gas.

I am going to ready the label closer, but it may work just fine for storage by taking the water out, which starts the algae.

I had a good friend (rest his sole) that was a "Million Mile Trucker", a real group, and he told me not to waste my money on additives except for storage.

Sea-Foam. You can buy it at Walmart. I have used it for years in my work trucks ( also diesel) I swear by this stuff. You got algae because you have water in your fuel. Diesel fuel is notorious for that. Other diesel additives collect the water but then it still goes through your injectors and through your aquahot. Sea foam brakes down the water molecules. 195,000 miies on one of our service trucks and still going.

Good idea on the Sea Foam, it is good stuff and I didn't know it could be used in diesels. Thanks for that tip.

You get what you pay for. I use it every 4 or 5 fill ups. You don't need to use it all the time and something is better than nothing. I will use Diesel Kleenex as well on occasion. I will always carry 7 or 8 small bottles just in case I pick up some bad diesel at the pump.

Fasteddie, thanks for the tip on Sea Foam and it working in diesels. I have used it in boats and have been very pleased with the performance. I read the lable and it IS for diesel fuel storage. Another nice thing, one can will treat our 150 gallon fuel tanks with an ounce left over. That will be my new fuel storage additive, thank you. Good post Johnny, I like learning something new

Opti-Lube

After reading many posts on a previous iRV2 thread, I am using Opti-Lube Summer Blend. I choose it because of its high rated lubricity and algae control. It is inexpensive when purchased by the gallon and goes a long way. I can't comment on added fuel mileage because I don't track that very accurately. Cummins has lately recommended a fuel additive whereas in the past they did not..
For more information you may search "Opti-Lube" on this site.
