Dash keeps, saying 8-8.3. But it lies.

A couple of trips on 55 mph flat roads I actually got mid 8.

The dash probably bases it's calculations only on metered fuel to the engine and does not include the generator or aqua hot usage. That is the way my Freightliner chassis is set up, don't know what you guys run.

I used to get about 7.5 mpg with my ISB-XT 350. Always had to flog it fighting the wind or running up hills. With my wife driving, around 8 mpg. Only about 2000 miles so far on the ISX, but I'm getting 7.3 mpg loafing along at 1450 rpm with a much heavier coach (44K vs 30K lbs).

We only monitor our GPM in order to ascertain how the drivetrain is healthwise. Mileage for a coach pulling a towed is what it is, as weight, wind direction and speed, highway condition, speed, front end configuration, engine size, gear ratios, tire pressure, altitude, ambient temperatures outside, hills, etc all affect the final calculations.
There are times we are unhappy with GPM, but other times we are quite happy with the answer. Knowing the variables lets us do corrections of the things we can control such as speed, driving when the wind is in our favor, and tire pressure.

We well understood we wouldn't get good mileage with driving a "brick" down the highway.

If I was getting GPM I'd be unhappy no matter what it was.

I was getting 8.3 mpg on our trip pulling a 25 ft trailer with a total weight of 7800 lbs.
We now have 14000 miles on the odometer.

That's about what my readout shows, but mileage divided by gallons shows a different figure. Noel

South of the 49th, that would be 8.2 Miles/US Gallon.

With about 16,500 miles under our belt we are at 8.4. We pull a Honda CRV and run at about 64-66 miles per hour. We've been out west thru the mountains as well as to Florida where it is pretty flat. The average seems to be climbing as we put miles on the coach. The delivery folks had it at 6.5 when we picked up the coach so they must have been well above the speeds we usually drive. John

At about 7000 miles, we got 8.7MPG on our last trip, pulling our toad, driving around 65MPH, hot weather, mixed terrain. I'm careful about using Economy mode, except on hills, where I monitor my RPM closely and choose gears myself about 1/4 of the time.

We are in the same ballpark with others; 7.2-7.5 towing a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Speed usually is in the 65 MPH range. Try to stay between the 62-64 MPH and the 67-68 MPH trucks. They seem to run in those two ranges, I suppose because of gearing.

Dash keeps, saying 8-8.3. But it lies.

Ted Cook (Entegra engineer) after plant tour stated emphatically that the dash readout is extremely accurate re: fuel going through the engine. Don't see why he would lie about it. Maybe your generator and aqua hot are making up the difference.

That is correct. Engine only....
Your actual mileage may vary.
