Generator AutoStart

With two Yorkies onboard occasionally when we leave the coach for few hours we want to be sure the auto start feature works.
Unfortunately when we use the menu on the Command 30 and choose "auto" it then says to hit enter. When I push the enter button the generator starts immediately.
At NIRVC Atlanta in Dec techs went through system and reset one of the settings per phone call to the experts and everything worked fine. Pulled shore power plug, turned on AC and generator auto started. Then shut off AC and generator auto stopped. I was very happy.

Now I'm in Alabama and went to Command 30 to set auto start with generator (AC NOT on). And same problem. As soon as I hit enter button generator starts

I'm at 50 amp site with no AC on. Any ideas???

When you look at the LCD screen, what exactly does it say?

This happened to us after upgrading our EC30 with the newest program.
In set up. Check the parameter "SP Sense" and make sure it is set to BEFORE.
Hopefully this helps solve the issue for you.

I had the exact thing happened to me. Their are two wires down at the transfer switch panel. Pink and purple wires are backwards. Switch them and all will work properly.

Have all of the Command 30 settings as listed in the owners manual been set, battery start voltage, etc? Did you call the tech to see what he did when it worked?

Another possibility is that the voltage that the EC-30 is set for to autostart is set so high that it always appears to the EC-30 that the coach needs to recharge. Check what voltage triggers the autostart. You have gotten several other good answers.

That was the change NURVC check made and it worked after that.

Gary, at NIRVC xtech lowered voltage from 12.7 to 12.1 to give me a lower voltage before generator auto start. He felt it was still ok battery wise but better for gen autostart

Brett. How will I know they are backwards by looking at them??

I had same thing at delivery as that was the first thing I tried and I depend on that and on a 100 degree day in Delaware state park..power did go out...the two wires were switch (pink/purple)...then I had to have NIRVC set the switch to SPsense (Shore Power Sense BEFORE).....I'd check that setting and if it after...put to before...if it worked and now not working, I'd call customer Service and have them go thru all setting with you.

12.7 is too high and will cause excessive gen cycling. It is generally accepted here that a setting between 11.9 and 12.1 is reasonable. Higher than 12.1 will cause excessive gen cycling as noted, and lower than 11.9 risks long term battery damage.

on our setup, the max voltage I can set the AGS to start at is 12.2 ! so figure that must be the threshold for ours...

If you are hooked to 50 A, you don't need AGS.If it is hot, it can provide some level of comfort. OTOH, I always look at reviews for a campground to see if there is a history of power issues there. If it hasn't been identified, then the likely thing is you'll know the weather conditions that might lead to a power outage, or hear about it on the radio.

That said, I wonder if being hooked up to shore power impacts the AGS functionality and settings.
