Genny door rattle

We finally got resolution to our on-going genny door rattle which was even more obnoxious when starting the gen. The factory did not have any luck on this issue when we were at our PDI visit. So for those that still have this problem, maybe this writing and photo might help or give you another option or possibility for fix. We have a friend who is a good metal fabricator and we took an old loading dock bumper and cut sections off to equate with the width of the metal tubing inside of gen door. Welded, primed and painted the brackets. With the door closed, the bumpers tighten everything up in that cavity. Perfect amount of counter pressure. Not a rattle or sound now including when generator is started or running.

Ron.

Glad you fixed it. Not sure exactly what you did. I have a genny door rattle too depending upon how the coach is sitting. Definitely worse on start up. I tried to buff it up with some additional rubber gasket material with little success. I was saving it for my PDI.

My genny starts quiet, but it rattles like mad when it shuts down!! I can sleep through the start easily, but the stop always wakes me up. Anyone else with that problem, and better, a fix?

Gary

I'm having trouble with my genny creeping forward when it's been sitting for 4 or 5 hours. The dealer warned me it would happen and that Entegra is working on a fix. It's bad enough that it's pushing the door out a 1/2" or so. Turn the key on and it pulls the genny back and it's fine for a awhile. For the time being I have it tied down with a ratchet strap………..hope I don't forget to take it off before I hit the extend switch……….:face palm:

I haven't ran the genny enough to tell if the noise is an annoyance or not but everything down there seems to be a little "loose".

Mine was the slide bars of the generator vibrating together. Some split pek pipe fixed it. I have a picture somewhere but I can't fine it.

I found the post with the photo Rattling Generator fix

Ron, I like your fix for the door. Good thinking.

What Entegra did worked so well, I added a piece of PEK pipe to the other side and no noise at all now. The rails on mine were extremely loose and had a bad rattle.

1/2 inch PEK..I keep a piece in case I need it for plumbing repairs/additions or projects like this. Lowes or Home Depot. Cut the pieces 6-8 inches

I think I have some 1/2" at the storage garage and I'll try the fix today. It will be a good excuse to get the coach out for a drive and do a lap around Houston before the rain comes again. We had a trip to Big Bend scheduled this week but had to cancel due to flu. Only have about 300 miles in the driver seat so I have been itching to get it out again………….

A lap in Houston is like taking your life in your hands I think the national past time there is lane changing then hitting their brakes.

Actually, it's PEX, which stands for crosslinked polyethtylene. It's the standard poly water lines used in RVs as well as in residential construction ever since copper got expensive.
