Girard Awnings

Just purchased a 2015 Entegra Anthem 42 DEQ. We didn't receive all the manuals so we are trying to famiarize ourselves with all the conveniences. Our previous coach's awning had a wind sensor that we could adjust. I can't find any info letting me know if these awnings are wind sensitive and how to adjust them, if they do. The label on the awning says they are Nova II. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

They have vibration sensors.
Wind starts shaking them they will retract. Not adjustable as far as I know.
Welcome to the Entegra family!! Safe travels. Jay

Hi,

Just going through the same manual issue with our new-to-us 2014 Entegra Anthem 44B. Here is the Girard download Website:

https://www.girardrv.com/collections/product-manuals

You should be able to download all of the owners manuals for your coach. Hope this helps. This is a great forum and you will find some real experts always willing to help.

Cheers,

Yes, but it is possible for the polarity on the vibration sensor to be wired backwards. In that case, if your awning is extended and a wind comes up, the awning will attempt to extend, but since it is already extended, it stops. It will not auto retract.

Another related but little known problem is the awnings are not supposed to have power to them when the ignition is on. This is accomplished by two outlets in bay behind the door are disconnected when the ignition is on. However, the outlets are not marked or identified specifically for awnings only.

If an awning is inadvertently plugged into another outlet without a disconnect, and the polarity on the vibration sensor was wired backwards when it was installed, a large vibration can result in the awning extending while driving down the interstate. Results are not good, like bent arms and parts, and could be a major disaster.

There are those who would argue the awnings can't extend in motion, but it can and it did!
