It has on two occassions, and I feel it saved me from a blow out, or at least a low tire 100s of miles from nowhere. I'd advise anyone never to leave home without one. Heck, I use my TPMS to do my predeparture pressure check.

When parachutes were first invented, WW1 fighter pilots would not wear them, as they seemed cowardly and an admission that you could be shot down.

Tony you might be right and if the monitor system gives you a piece of mind, then you should have one. I don't think someone is cowardly for having one at all. I'm just from the old school of driving. I drive with my butt, meaning I feel vibrations and feel the vehicle. Last week I stopped because I felt the vibrations and instantly knew I was having tire issues. Once I ran my hand over the tire, I found what I had feared. (At every stop, I touch each tire, checking for temperature and wear)

i really think the problems with the Good Year tires is caused by the tires being at their weight limits. With the roads in terrible condition, these tires are taking a beating and I don't think they can handle the abuse while maxed out. I almost bought the Toyo tires but they were rated the same as the Good Year tires for weight capacity. Today I ordered the Michelin Tires that have a higher weight capacity.

Entegra does not buy any tires, they are furnished by the chassis manufacture, in this case Spartan. They are under the weight that Spartan certifies they are capable of carrying. Having said that, I agree that the tires are loaded close to their max carrying capacity and are likely more susceptible to curb damage, chuck holes, rocks than higher capacity tires. Spartan and Entegra have elected to move to Michelins on the Aspire in 2018 thus gaining more of a safety margin. All JMHO

Way too much unproductive speculation and guessing without much/any information.

The owner of the coach with the accident says he will publish much more information and I suggest that we wait for some facts and less speculation. We are at the point of diminishing returns, iMHO. There will be an analysis of the tire at fault. If there were a suit, Goodyear would have experts examine every aspect of the tire and they and we would have much better basis for making judgements.

If we are uncomfortable with some aspect of our coaches, then we all bear the responsibility to either take action or suffer the consequences.

Speculation or not, as one forum poster said the front Goodyear tires on our former 2013 Aspire were almost right at their weight limit and max axle loading. Check the wight and tire tables yourself. I think that is why Entegra moved the batteries mid ship. I asked about an upgrade to Micheleins but was told no.

Dave, I was finally able to get my Anthem 4 corner weighed on this trip and was surprised I am 1,100 pound heavier on the D/S. All of my cargo weight is on the P/S, 5 drawer tool box etc. The weight has to come from the 8 AGM batteries and construction design. There is no way I would run a mediocre tire. I will have the ride height checked for the 4th time, but I have my doubts. I have had axle weights since the coach was new, but could never get a 4 corner weigh, I was very surprised.

Here are weights for a fully loaded out 16 Anthem. I believe I have recently managed to balance the steering axle weights by storing certain items under front freezer and storage trays. Will get another 6 point to verify. I just did a scale weigh and Im now at 16.9k on steering.

This is my 2017 Aspire fully loaded over 1,000 pounds below max weight on the steer axle. We are fully loaded here full fuel, full water and basement completely stocked for full time living. I moved all the heaviest stuff to the rear.

Mine is quite different from the other posted coaches. Getting your coach 4 corner weighed could be the difference in possible tire problems. I now need to find where the 1,100 pound difference is coming from. On just axle weight, I am fine, 16,560, but I do have to increase tire pressure being heavier on one side

My 2014 Anthem weighs about 16,700 on the front axle. The axle says 17,000 but Spartan upped those numbers post production to some higher number. Either way I'm just under the limit. My left weighs 8640, my right weighs 8060. Since that time I moved a toolbox to the right side. My limit is based on axle ratings vs tire capability. My drive and tag axles are several thousand pounds under the tire ratings and axle limits.

I see the value of moving the AGM batteries mid ship and having good steer tires.

Ok went out to some truck we have got tire stuff .
Frieghtliner
18,000 front straight axle
General 385/65/22.5
Load rating single 9920 lbs
Really fat wide , won't work on anthem for sure.

Mack Granite
18,000 front straight axle
Bridgestone 315/80/22.5 Low Pro
Load rating single 10,000 lbs
Little Wider then 11/22.5 tire, probably taller , don't know don't have time to look up specs yet . This is size that probably should be on those heavy front ends ???

When these trucks are fully loaded they are little over the 18,000 on front , 57,000 total weight . Just some thoughts!!

Just looked up front tire size on anthem, 315/80/ 22 is that right if so Bridgestone ones are same. High weight rating.

As someone who has Goodyears on a '17 Aspire I do have a question. For the 17's they went to 315's up front from the 295's they had in previous years. Does that help in not making the tires as close to their capacity as has been reported on the 295's?
