Go into the setup, RV Tools and enter the size of your coach, weight, etc. Turn off shortest route, they will take you on dirt roads, residential neighborhoods, etc.

Page 2 of this manual will help. https://www.randmcnally.com/images/r...ser_Manual.pdf

Not 100% sure as I'm not on the coach at the moment, but I don't think the so called salesman switch will reboot the dash GPS unit as it is connected to chassis, not house, batteries. As royals1212 said you probably need to pull the fuse in the outside compartment under the toll window.

Aspire

My assumption is that you mean the GPS doesn't know you are 13' high and ~ 65 feet long (with tow car) and ~44,000-50,000 # heavy. If that is your concern, then Chuck's directions and advice are right where you need to be and what you need to do to fix that. You need to add your data and store it.

Now, when I read your post, I think that you might mean something else.... so if what Chuck told you is not the right issue, please explain more fully what you mean and we will try to help.

Gary

Also the SD card probably needs to be updated. My 19 could not find it's way home from the dealer until I updated it.

Thanks everyone for your reply, but I have entered all the data for my coach in the RV tools...I have taken out the shortest route........I have done everything each has mentioned already, but the coach carried me the hell and back on locally county roads, later mention this with the park personnel and they said........wow all you needed to do was go str8 out of the park turn rt and you would be on a nice wide acceptable rd for your size RV.............RM didn't get that memo obviously. I will try the SD card up again and see if it helps but so far not impressed with RM RV maps.

Well it should as I put all that info in the RV tools profile for the coach.

My Rand McNally has never done that to me once I set it up correctly. Once it did try to send me down a road that I could tell was not appropriate for me but I found that I had mistakenly set it, or it set itself somehow, to the shortest routing, and with shortest routing, it will come up with some really dumb routing to save you a mile. That is also a common problem with the Garmin GPS units I have in my toad.

I have found Rand McNally customer service to be very responsive. Give them a call directly and talk with them.... I am very sure that they will give you some information that resolves that, or tell you how that could have occurred.

There was one time that I mis-interpreted what the RM was telling me.... I missed that it said to make a right turn another 900 from where I was and I turned right where I was and that sent me down the wrong road with a bridge weight limit that was WAY under what I weighed (and I had to unhook and turn around to go back away from that bridge), but frankly, it was my mistake.... I simply didnt pay attention to when the "woman" wanted me to turn.... it was my mistake, not the "lady in the box". Any chance that you made the mistake?

Yours GPS is doing the same thing my 19 did until I upgraded the card and this was when it was brand new. Upgraded the card and it works perfect. BTW, brand new it took 2 hours of update, I forgot the number, but the map was only half of it.

I get that message at least twice a year. I just press the on off button and restart the unit. I am not sure why it happens.

Apparently RM is not doing very frequent map updates for some reason, or my system is not downloading them.

The maps for all GPS manufacturers come from two or three providers, and none of them are updated more than every year or two. So what you experienced is not unusual and would probably be about the same with another brand GPS.

It's under the plastic wood package tray on the passenger side of the dash. The link will explain it.
