Gray tank overflowing

Can someone tell me what happens to the water when you leave the faucet on and the gray tank fills up where does the extra water go?

When my grey tanks over fills the first indication is a terrible stench followed by the visual of grey water backing up into the bottom of the shower stall which is the lowest drain in the coach.

If not caught quickly well then the next place is all over the coach floor as it pours out of the shower stall.

Your toilet drains into a BLACK tank whereas all of the sinks and shower drains go into the grey tank. They do not mix together so it was pure coincidence.

In many Entegras and Travel Supremes the bathrom sinks also drain to the black tank.

I left the bathroom sink on to fill up the gray tank so when I flushed out the black tank the gray tank would wash out the hose I forgot to turn off the faucet and I'm not sure if it overflowed or not when I checked it showed 100 gallons I don't see any problems where the water overflowed I may have caught it in time

A sure sign I have gotten distracted or affected by alcohol if I leave my gray water valve closed too long. DW will ask why there is an odor or she hears gurgling in the kitchen sink. I immediately run outside and pull the valve. If you wait too long the shower drain back flows with stinky water. If it goes longer than that....I shudder to think.

If you ran water in the vanity sinks your black tank was 100% which may be why it wouldn't flush initially.

If you let the grey tank overflow high cuffs will help.

One of the many things that are not cast in stone is where the bathroom sink drains. The best place would be the black tank as that assures any fecal matter on hands would end up in the black tank. OTOH easy routing of the drain lines does not always facilitate that so sometimes they go into the gray tank.

A lot of people assume that sink goes to the gray tank. We know what assume means so please verify where it goes to. Probably the easiest way is to run the water for a few minutes and see what tank level increases. One can also empty both tanks then close one and run water for a few minutes. If water is coming out of the open valve that is the tank. If not open the other one and see if there is a small flood into the drain.

What model EC do you have. I don't think all drain the same.

On my 2016 Aspire 42 RBQ my draining test show both sinks and the shower drain into the gay tank. I could be wrong.

Most shower drains have a one way valve instead of a "P" trap. They will back up when the grey tank is full only when the shower itself causes the back up. When the back up is caused by other drains the washer drain or sinks will have the water come up. If your washer drain is lower than the sinks the grey will overflow out it.
