Just wanted to update this old thread as I installed the Fumoto drain valve on my Generator this week.

Short story why I decided to install the Fumoto. DW and I were on the road for 5.6 months and we had hit our 250 hour generator service time. The closest place to service the generator while on the road was for us to drive to Speedco in Greenwood Louisiana from Longview Texas. After locating all the filters as Speedco told us they don't carry them we drove the 40 minutes from Texas to Louisiana one early morning a month ago.

The young service tech and his supervisor tried their best to get the drain plug out but ended up stripping the bolt. Turns out the last place we took the Coach for its 50 hour service over tightened the bolt. Spartan serviced it last when we attended the Spartan training class.

I called Spartan and they told me they would pay for any and all repairs to correct the damage to include a new oil pan if the bolt could not be removed. We arrived back to Vegas and decided to try and get it out before we allowed Cummings to do it. Leaving our Coach at Cummings without it being plugged in for a week or so was not the way I wanted to go again. Couple of friends came over and were able to break the bolt free. When the bolt finally came off it made a loud cracking noise as it was probably torqued to several hundred pounds when Spartan serviced the generator.

So to keep from going through this nightmare again I ordered the Fumoto valve and extension. I also ordered the Fumoto for my 450 ISL. Here are the part numbers and info on the company I purchased from if anyone is interested. Safe travels.

Shop Femco Drain Plugs | Standard
I did as well. After trying the Fumoto with the extension, I was uncomfortable how low it extended and returned it for the Femco.

In the end I used a six point short impact socket (22mm I think)on a 3 foot long breaker bar and when the bolt finally gave in it did so with a loud "crack". Installed with waaaayyy too much torque.
Just changed Onan oil for the first time 2 weeks ago and came across the same thing. Had to use the cheater pipe on the breaker bar.
