Hot pink wire

I have an unidentified wire dangling in the wire mess above the wet bay. It is fairly robust, perhaps 12 gauge, and is hot pink with a white stripe. There is a pinch splice connector on the end. The upper end disappears straight up, towards the bathroom panel. I cannot locate any other wire to which it might connect. I don't know if it is something that our 'ghetto' Aspires <g> do not have, or if it should be connected to something.

I currently have no power to either the power reel or the hose reel. The switch is hot, and power gets to the reel, so I suspect the return ground. Nothing is labeled at all, of course. If I could locate a second wire, I would be tempted to connect with the pink one for grins...

You said in an earlier post that you had the switch unhooked from the hose reel. How many wires did you have going into the switch? Also how many positions does the switch have?

The switch is a spring-loaded momentary-on type. There are two wires. The hot 12 volt comes into the switch and when it is held down, passes through. I can measure that it gets to and through the reel motor, but there is no current flow, thus no ground somewhere. The power to the switch is a yellow wire, coming out of the switch it is yellow/black. That goes to the black side of the motor, and the red motor wire is connected to a white wire that disappears into the maze.

The switch was easy to disconnect, and I feel confident that the problem is not there. IF that pink wire matters, it is supposed to be connected to SOMETHING, and that something I cannot locate. There are no wires unaccounted for. If it is supposed to clip onto some wire in a bundle, I hope someone can tell me. Anyone with a classic Aspire (I have a '15), please look and see if there is a pink/white wire coming from straight above the center of the bay, at the front, and where does it go?

Hot pink wire

DeeGee,
We had a 13 RBQ Aspire and I'm thinking the hose reel and switch were the same as our current 16 Anthem RBQ.
The current coach has 4 wires going into that switch and the switch actually has three positions: center-off
Top or up -rewind
Bottom or down-release.

Check and see if your switch actually has another position-down.

Does the hot pink wire show signs of being crimped to another wire?

On the first picture the switch can be seen at the top - it has two yellow wires.

My switch is two positions only. It must be held up for on. There is no release, you just pull the hose or power cord out manually, then use the switch to rewind.

That type of connector is mean to be connected to a wire that is not necessarily terminated at the connection point but continues to another point.
Look for marks on another wire in that area that the wire could reach. You may need to look real close.

Remember you are not looking for a wire end but a wire that maybe running thru that area.

It's sound like you two reels are missing a ground.

Check that hot pink wire for the presents of any voltage. If it not hot connect it to a known ground and see if the rewind works.

Actually there is safer to test this. Put a test light or a 12 volt meter between the hot pink wire and known ground point and push the switch, if that light comes on with switch that hot pink wire is the ground for you reel motors.

Another thing be sure you are dealing with 12 volt not 120 volt ac. My motor is dc but apparently you have a different setup.

It's DC. Comes on and off with the master. I don't know if the pink wire is hot. I'll have to check it against a ground. If in fact it is the missing ground for the reel, I would not expect it to be hot.

Hot pink wire

Do You have a good ground point? If you have a 12 volt light or 12 volt meter connect it between the hot pink wire and ground and see if you have 12 volts when you push the switch.

What happens here when you push the switch the 12 volts goes to the motor's windings out the ground side and causing the light to be lite. The light or meter is providing the path to ground.
