You aren't doing anything wrong, the red ring is set wrong. DSL417 can chime in and fell you how to correct it.

So, two things to check...first, does you shower head have a restrictor screen so that you don't have too high a volume of water coming through the head. Remove the head and check for some for of flow restrictor. If that is there, you can remove the knob on the on off switch. Then remove the head of the knob and you'll see a red hot water control ring. Th ring can be pulled partially out and moved to the counter clockwise or clockwise...sorry, don't remember which, and this will increase the mix of hot water coming through the pipes to the head (I think it was counterclockwise, and mine is all the way as far as it will go. That should do the trick, but there is one last adjustment point. That is the mixing valve on the back of the Aqua Hot. It is behind the carpeted cover on the passenger side of the Aqua Hot burner downstairs. The cover is screwed to the floor and wall with regular square head screws and can be removed to access the valve. I would then point you to the manual for adjusting the mixing valve, because the manufacturer recommends against it. The description of how is straightforward and I'd recommend you follow it. I did this adjustment as well. This order of fixes has worked for those I've interacted with to increase the amount of hot water (mine was actually issuing the restrictor screen to begin with; unfortunately, that was the last thing I looked at, so now I do have to be careful with how high i turn the hot water.

Thanks to Dusty56, here is how I fixed mine. It takes a small metric alan wrench to remove the shower handle. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and remove this red ring. That is the hot water stop control. The handle will now allow more hot water into the shower.

It has a purpose. Suggest you follow the advice I gave before you pull completely. At least that was the guidance from Entegra CS....but of course...your call!

Flow restrictors are common in ALL faucets now thanks to our wonderful EPA that is going to save us from ourselves. I have a very good friend that has been a plumber for 30 years and he removes them from home installtion before he installs them in peoples homes or the call backs drove him nuts that "this new faucet doesn't work."
The guidance I was given by CS service was not to mess with the AH setting but to remove the shower flow control. I guess it's who you talk to. The easy way worked great for us. And a big thanks to Dusty 56 for posting the problem and fix awhile back.

Not to hijack your thread but my former Aspire had the hot water problem described and removing the temp limiting ring helped a lot. My 14 Anthem has zero problems, so far, producing hot water. I know the Aqua a Hot is bigger but the temperature outputs were set the same. It appears some folks have the problem and others do not. Removing the ring should fix it!

Gentlemen, you have missed a very important statement the OP made. The water flow is completely stopped when he turns the valve to all hot. That is not the temp control ring. Texas Jim, you most likely have a valve cartridge problem or less likely no hot water going to the shower valve.

Some valves will go past the hot and turn off if the anti scald ring is removed. Back up from full hot till you have flow and wait awhile and see if it gets hot. If it does then it's your cartridge.

Terry, I thought the same thing when I read the OP. My anti scald ring had the corners kind of rounded off before I removed it. If I turned the shower handle to far the water flow decreased. Once I removed the ring, it ended the problem. It might be possible that the white ring shown in the photo may be out of position. If it isn't, then you are probably correct....a bad cartridge.

Had a similar issue with my new Cornerstone as well. They simply set the anti scald ring so that the amount of hot water was restricted too much. New shower has a similar setting - took about 5 minutes to get a nice toasty shower.
I guess the lawyers want to save us from hurting ourselves and suing the company
