Wow .... 950 miles in one day is an awful lot. Hopefully you both do the driving and not just left to one of y'all.

I have done over 500 miles in a day on numerous trips. But that makes for a very long day. I would much rather do closer to 300. Now that I am retired and am not trying to get as much distance in as I can during my time off, I hope to take my time.

As mentioned by someone above, I'm more of a "time guy". Usually out by 8 and in by 6. Travelling with a dog ensures plenty of stops to refresh. We're all about the destination as we're still working. PTO is a precious commodity. I'd rather put in some extra time behind the wheel than burn another day.

When planning our trips we try to keep in the 300-400 mile range per day and I really like the rule of 3 strategy, I think I'll adopt that and add one more....3 drinks when I arrive!

Cool Comfort Drive

How bout all you folks with Newmars with Comfort Drive? I drove a new Newmar a couple weeks ago (44 footer), with Comfort Drive and I think I could drive that thing a 1,000 miles a day, if I had to.

So are the Newmar folks driving longer and farther ???

Just did 800 2 weeks ago in a Bounder. I am the only driver. Wasn't that bad once my backside went numb.

Will be moving to an Entegra or Newmar early next year, and it will make the same trip. Should be a breeze in either coach.

It solves one stressful issue, in the ease of handling. It doesn't solve paying constant attention, watching traffic 1/2 mi ahead, or avoiding ignorant drivers.

Or seeing the tire on the tractor trailer ahead of you explode

I'm usually good for 600 miles in a day as long as I don't have to do too many back-to-back days of it. When we visit my son in Washington state it's about a 2000 mile trip. We break that up into 3 days.

I have done as many 1200 miles in a day ... or at least without a significant break... a couple times. I'm a zombie by the time we get where we're going, but everyone else gets to have fun while I pass out in the back.

I'm still a working stiff so sometimes the schedule demands this kind of craziness. Some day I hope to take it at an easier pace, but I'm not sure retirement is in my deck of cards.

Gary I like the thought of the beer!!! We start off when ever we are ready and stop when we find a comfortable location. I stop at just about every open Rest area for a walk and possible nap. Wife makes meals along the day. If we rest enough during that day I may drive deep into the night if we're both good for that extra time. We stay at truck stops or rest areas. We do not stay at rv parks for just one night if we don't have to. Everything is on our comfort and time.

I've done 500 to over 700 miles when in a hurry and driving solo. That was in the '02 DSDP, the present rig is even more comfortable to drive.
Since work is a priority and time off is hard to get we travel into the night at times to get where we're going.

Going back to the OP and the Goldwing riders. I ride a Harley and if solo and need to get somewhere I've done 900-1000 mile days in the rain for most of it. With the DW on back we've done 750 mile days and that's above her limit, LOL

Now in the RV, we've done 500+ days and found that too much and have settled back to 300-400 and find that just about right. I'm not afraid to go farther if we have to, I'd just rather not if we can help it.

The most I have done, was when we bought the coach in Fort Myers Florida in 2014. We left Fort Myers at 11 am Saturday morning, and stopped in Hardyville, SC around 9pm. That was 460 fun filled miles, having never driven a motorhome before. The next day we left Hardyville at 6 am and due to the ever present traffic snarls around Richmond VA, and Washington DC, made it to Baltimore around 8:30pm, 600 miles. Oh, and I'm the only driver. My wife hasn't sat in the left seat yet. I'm still patiently waiting on that one.
