HWH Active Air Install

I’ve been asked to post pictures and observations about my week at HWH. So, thought I’d start with a new thread. Arrived at HWH at 7:00 am and we immediately went to a Pilot up the road to get weighed. Arrived back and they drove our Anthem onto the ramp. Pretty scary!

I was given a key to the door and the WiFi password, and a Owners manual to read. Couple folks aired up the coach, took measurements, emptied air bags - several times. Each coach is different-so this is truly a custom thing! Worked all day welding and installing components.

The workers left for the day about 4:30. Tomorrow they start installing the air lines, I’m told. Installed these today. Click image for larger version

So you are one of the 4 in front of me I wanted an october slot, but had to settle with first of November. They are booked solid at HWH. Great group of people there.

Talking to one of the engineers yesterday, they are booked solid until "winter". He said they have gotten busier and busier every year doing AA installs.

Everyone left the building around 7:00 last night and turned out the lights. It is interesting living in the coach in an industrial building! Although, I'm the only one in this particular building. There are several buildings ... and one is obviously for more "service" than this one. There are people in and out of that building all the time. Couple of electrical boxes around for coaches outside .. there are several coaches here for different service issues. Met a couple yesterday that just bought a View and they were having jacks installed and then will be driving it back to Washington state.

Did watch a tow truck come yesterday and take away an older country coach - they did not have a lowboy and wow .... I would hate to have my coach towed like that The tow truck driver hit a couple of pot holes on the way out and I thought that poor coach was going to tip over, sounded horrible.

Day 2 begins ......

Lynn

We know some people that owned a very nice Monaco Dynasty.... maybe a 2007. Had no interest in a new coach until something happened and they needed to be towed. The tow truck somehow dropped their coach twice (towing from the front axle/tires) and when the truck somehow dropped it, took off much of their lower front cap and steering system.... Essentially, it demolished the coach enough that the owners wanted nothing more to do with it, so bought a new coach.

I think the towing process is a VERY risky system that all of us need to do everything in our power to avoid, and if we have to have our coaches towed, try for a low boy and if not that, then say a lot of prayers for a successful tow.... not something I ever want to experience directly. I'm sure some of the tow truck drivers are incredibly smart and experienced, and some are doing it for the first time and have no clue at all..... Scary

Lynn, as you stated, these are custom built for each coach. I was surprised to see that the compressor is now being installed toward the rear of the coach. I think ours was the second Anthem to have Active Air installed and the compressor is mounted in the vicinity of the left front wheel well area. Apparently they are still fine tuning the installation

Hopefully you will enjoy the "Test" drive Friday. It was a real eye opener for us.

So, they only do one a month? I would like to have my rig done but I sure don't want to drive from WA state to Iowa in the winter!

Day 2 ... the wire harness came in a day early (they said they usually come in on Wednesday) ... so they were able to start putting that together. They installed lots of what they are calling plumbing ... but, I think are air lines. They are running them under the coach and are all neatly zip tied.

And ... yes, they only do one coach a week and right now they are booked until "winter". But, if anyone is interested, you might want to call and see if there is a waiting list if someone cancels this summer. .... just a thought.

I will put the pictures I took today in the next post.
