Incredibly disappointing visit to Entegra dealer

Last weekend my wife and I traveled to my hometown for my High School reunion. We have been looking at new Entegra's and the 42 DEQ seems to be the best floorplan for us. We have not decided between the Anthem and Aspire and really felt like we needed to see them both to appreciate the differences. We have been working online with a few dealers and one that we have been working with suggested that we visit their showroom to check out both an Anthem and an Aspire they had on their lot, even though they were 44's, to be able to see the differences between the lines.

We thought this was a great idea, and were told by our salesperson who we were working with (via the internet so they were NOT at the location we were going to) that the manager had been contacted and knew that we were coming.

We arrived last Thursday on a beautiful day and went in, and the front desk greeter seemed too busy to care that we were there. We explained our situation and she went and got a random salesperson and we explained our situation to him and he said "go have a look". Never offered to accompany us, never got the manager, nothing.

So we went outside and were there for almost two hours and guess what? not one single person came out to ask us if we had questions, nothing. Better yet, both coaches were not connected to shore power, batteries were drained, and when I asked if I could plug them in to the pole, they said "they did not do that". To top it off, it was over 85 degrees so my wife and I about sweated to death the whole time we were inside, and could not test or try anything that required power. I didn't even bother asking for a ride or to drive one.

We left after over two hours completely disappointed. I cannot imagine how a place like that would expect someone to spend 3-400K on a MH with customer service like that. Obviously we were legitimate buyers because we have been working with the company via internet sales so it wasn't like we just roamed in off the street.

It makes me wonder if RV sales are so good right now that they sell themselves? I also wonder if Entegra knows that this is how one of their dealers is behaving.

I am not going to bash this company publicly because when we contacted our salesperson who we were dealing with she apologized profusely and I guess they could have just been having a bad day. I can't tell you how big of a let down that was when we were expecting to see, drive, and possibly order a MH we have been researching and (only seen pictures of) for the last three months.

Sorry for the rant, but just curious if other people have had a similar experience and what they have done..

When we were in the market, we decided to look at every model in the floorplan we wanted before making a final decision.

The Tiffin dude told us that only Tiffin paints their slide outs.
The Winnebago dude told us we'd pay $100,000 more to special order so we better make a deal on what was on the lot.
The Newmar dude didn't understand why I needed to access the 1/2 bath while slides are in.
The Entegra dude wasn't interested in showing us new coaches, only used.
We finally decided on American Coach, and that dude was a bit all over the place, but at that point, we were finalized on the fit, finish, floorplan, and quality we wanted.
Not to mention we got one heck of a deal.

So sorry that happened to you. Don't give up on Entegra because of a poor dealer presentation. The company is just great and the owners we have met have been even better. They are a enthusiastic group of folks who love the Entegra experience. We are on coach number two and if there is a third it will be a Entegra. Try Angie at NIRVC or Robin and RVOne in Orlando. They are both good salesmen and women and will do a good job for you. Don't feel bad because you were ignored as that was our experience when we bought at the Hershey show in 2012 until we arrived at the Entegra booth. Robin took at least an hour with us newbies and explained the features of the Aspire and compared it to some of the other brands we looked at. Just based on the fit and general finish Entegra won hands down and they were less money. We have been happy owners since. Sometimes the dealers just don't get it and do not realize how much the customer values a good buying experience. The sales people never should judge the book by its cover as I found out in financial sales. Some of my best clients have been overlooked by other consultants because they did not appear they needed financial and estate planning advice. Hope you come back to a good dealer and have a much better experience.

On the one hand, I understand you not wanting to identify the dealer. However on the other hand, you are "sliming" all dealers and then bad-mouthing Entegra because of the terrible experience you had. Your experience is really a shame and I am sorry you went through it, but what happened to you is a dealer specific problem and both in helping others and in communicating your dissatisfaction to the manufacturer, you should be naming the group that gave you such bad service. IMHO, you are helping no one by keeping secret who you were working with.

The dealer screwed up your visit. Frankly, that is not uncommon in some dealerships. The fact that they did not have the coaches connected to power tells me that it was not NiRVC or Motor Home Specialists as both of those dealership keep their coaches connected to power so that the coaches are cool, batteries are well cared for, etc. etc. etc.

Just IMHO, but one I firmly believe in.

I should add that even though our experience with that dealer was poor at best I believe it is the team or individuals at a particular dealership that ruin it. We LOVE our Entegra! And even though it took 9 months, the owners of RV ONE saw to it that we were taken care of. Gag order and all! Lol

Sorry this didn't work out for you. HOwever, there are more dealerships out there than you can shake a stick at .... maybe go to a different dealership? Might be a bit more travel, but worth it if you are looking for a coach in this price range. Or ... maybe better yet, go to a campground near you and look and see if there are any Entegras there. If so, go knock on the door and ask the owner if they have a few minutes to give you their opinion of their coach .... and what made them decide to by that model vs the other one. Just a thought. Good luck!

It sure wasn't MHSRV! They have an unbelievable facility with all higher end coaches covered with all of them plugged in. For truth in inventory, check MHSRV.com for an incredible selection of Entegra coaches. If you have a question, contact Mark Griffith, the sales manager. This is a class operation!

The batteries in those coaches are either totally ruined or seriously degraded from this abuse. They will pawn them off on an unsuspecting buyer who be puzzled as to why his batteries die so soon. This alone is reason to disclose the name of the dealer, in order to protect the public.

Folks,

I'm not trying to "slime all dealerships" and I do not see in my post where I specifically said anything negative about the Entegra product. I also never said I had given up my search.

I do also want to mention that there were numerous things that were broken and dirty in both coaches we looked at. It was like someone just parked them and totally forgot about it.

I do know that NIRVC has almost unanimous positive praise on here so we will most likely head there for our next dealer visit.

I will be happy to disclose the name of the dealership and where it was in a PM for those that are interested, and to prevent someone from wasting their time visiting that particular dealership to look at Entegras (they have many other manufacturers products there).

As we are still somewhat new to this, I was looking to see if maybe this was the norm at some places or if this was really way out of line (like we thought it was).

Thanks for everyone's input
