Induction Cookware

Our new Aspire will be our first with the Induction Cooktop. What brand of cookware did you buy and where did you buy it? We are finding all kinds of claims out there in Internet Land (Surprise, surprise!) and aren't really sure what makes sense and what doesn't.

I also have the Magma nesting, but just be warned they are heavy....

Anything that a magnet will stick to will work with induction tops is my understanding.

Even my old, antique Griswold cast iron pans work but they will scratch the cooktop unless you used a silicone pad.

We also use the magma - love the small space they take up when nested.

That creates a mental picture of my wife walking around Bed, Bath & Beyond with a refrigerator magnet testing all the cookware. I never thought about that idea, but it's a really good suggestion. Thanks for the idea!

Chantel cookware from Amazon. Good stuff available in sets or individual pieces.

Here is a link to a thread on the induction. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/indu...op-342782.html

We have been very disappointed in the performance of our Furion unit and our experience is in post five of this thread. Before others jump in we have tried some of the most expensive induction rated cookware on the market. I am talking Al Clad, cast iron and Le Crueset all costing more than the cooktop. What we have found is that we have been able to achieve marginal performance by buying a device called a "HOB" which is basically a heavy metal plate that the pan sits on. We have also found a marginal performance in using one of the cheapest metal pans from JC Penny's, but it is far from satisfactory. Yes, magnets stick to all of these pans. No, they still don't work.

Right now we will be heading to NIRVC in Atlanta for radiator work, that is another issue. We have heard from the Newmar folks that the True Induction cooktops work much better so we will test one of those in a used coach on their lot.

I guess the point of my post is that any cookware you buy make sure that the return policy will let you bring it back for a refund. Also, as you have a unique arrangement and history over the years with RV One maybe they can do a swap for you to the Newmar True Induction if your not happy with the Entegra top.

I’m actually using my moms 60 yr old pots and pans. My good set at home would not work so I tried the old stuff I had in the garage and lo and behold they worked.
For frying pans I took a magnet to the store to check which ones would work.

Jim, thanks so much for the link and the discussion. Am I correct in the assumption that the current induction cook top is a Furion and not a True Induction. Either way, I'm curious as to whether or not others have had the same issues with the cooktop that you have experienced.
