Interesting new tire blow out safety device

Need to find out cost. Seems promising.

Wonder be if you could install it and it stays through a couple of set of tires...

It's very interesting, but not enough for me to switch. I'll stick with the Ty-Ron already installed on my steering wheels.

Very cool. I may be looking into those when I replace my current tires.

I would be curious as to how much it is and the cost of installation. It looks like a great product and one that could save lives.

This product appears to be very similar to a product that Tyron has been making for the US and foreign military to be used on Armored Personal Carriers and other vehicles equipped with tires. The units for Military are even larger to handle the even larger military vehicle tires and wheels. The principle appears to be the same.... They are almost as large as the tires so in the case of a flat, the rubber tire simply falls a few inches so that it now "runs"/rolls on the wheel insert. I believe that the military version is designed to withstand bullets punctures to the tires and let the troops get to safety. I also like the demo on a fairly large coach. The demo videos of the Tyron bands in action, at least a year ago, showed blowout films only on much smaller "European" style motor coaches.

Developing the same logic for motor coaches makes perfect sense and this seem like they would do an excellent job of permitting the driver to maintain control of the coach and bring it to a safe stop by the side of the road. Seems like it also might protect our aluminum wheels.

Also interesting to see that on the 365s they show at the end, they show the wheel slot filled with a pair of Tyron bands. That has been a point of discussion in the past as to whether you need one or two bands. I have heard that 365s must have the double bands, and I think the 315s may need them also.... not sure.

I will try to find out the cost. I am more impressed with this product than I am the bands.

Gary

There are a few rims carrying 315s that have a wider well thus requiring two bands. Our 15 Anthem has such rims. If you buy Tyron bands definitely buy the change kit at $150. The little key that comes with the bands does not allow for a complete tire change. Or you will surely get stuck on the side of the road or even in a big truck tire shop.

I have Tyron bands on our Cornerstone now. I’m having a set of these lighter weight retroband units installed at customer appreciation in Thackerville next month. These not only keep the tire on the wheel, but allows you to actually drive on them. During testing I believe they drove 1500 mi on Just the retroband.

I've always said I wasn't too worried about front blowouts because I've been trained to handle them and I have experienced them in the past.

BUT.....

That's impressive and I will look into them. To me that's a game changer.

Very impressive product. This is the best solution I have seen and I understand comparable in price to the smaller product that does not protect the rim.

Impressive. I wonder if you do have a blowout are they in the way of getting tire changed like the Tyron's are? is there a kit for roadside repair?

Sorry if it was in the video and I missed it

Heard back from NIRVC. Costs will be ~ $4,500 for the largest size.
