Having quite a bit of noise with retraction and sometimes my drivers side jack won’t fully retract on the first go.

With my old coach I would use some lubricant spray and it would fix the issue but I don’t want to do anything wrong with the Anthem.

Look online for your jack manufacturer's manual, see if they suggest a treatment. Some recommend spray silicone, others spray lithium grease, some might even suggest WD40. (Wouldn't be my choice, it's a better moisture chaser than lubricant.

HWH recommends WD-40 and against using silicone. Don't kniw about others.
If HWH find the manual for your system... online if necessary. They are welk written and the troubleshooting section very good.

Lots of post on 2014 jacks being noisy. The final fix from Entegra was to drain a quart of fluid and replace with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. Cycle the jack all the way up, then all the way down. Let the motor cool, then do it again.
Some it worked for others it did not. My Jacks had to be replaced along with the motor that was burnt out trying to fix the jacks.

As for the jack not coming all the way up, check the fluid level.

As info:

I had a couple of jacks sticking and not retracting fully. I called HWH for recommendations and was told to use WD-40 clean the rams. I was told emphatically not to use silicone. They said it could result in seal damage.

I have followed their recommendations routinely and have not had any issues since.

Equalizer, our jack manufacture says either one, depending on which rep you speak with. I have had Equalizer jacks for over 15 years, on 2 MH's, and have used both WD 40 and Silicone. Never had a seal failure yet. Spray the rams, wipe them down, not enough residue to do any damage. More cleaning the dirt than anything. Personal preference WD 40 for it's cleaning ability.

Funny isn't it? HWH says to use WD-40 and not silicone and RoadMaster, on their towbars says not to use WD-40, only silicone. So, naturally I carry both although I don't have HWH jacks now.

See... that's why I suggested you check with the manufacturer of YOUR leveling system. Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone's got one.

"WD-40 isn't actually a true lubricant. WD stands for "water displacing" and its main use is as a solvent or rust dissolver."

It is important to recognize that the two jack systems mentioned (HWH and Equalizer) evidently have different instructions.

Filter the comments based on your equipment.

I believe most (if not all) Entegra coaches carry Equalizer jacks.

The Equalizer system uses double acting cylinders instead of single acting cylinders (those with springs to retract them). With double acting cylinders, when they are retracted, hydraulic oil fills the rod end of the cylinder which coats the rod (shaft) with oil. Each time you retract the jacks the shafts get lubricated by the hydraulic fluid. The only time you need to lubricate the exposed shafts is when your on the jacks for extended time periods. Especially in a salt water environment along a coast. The shafts are chrome plated to prevent oxidation. But a little lubrication never hurts.

Thanks for the explanations. I have only checked the fluid level once in 3 years. Kind of a pain to have to remove the access panel to do so.

Equalizer also recommends wiping (cleaning) the cylinders down with WD40 to remove grit from the after being extended for a while. Aircraft have theirs struts wipe down regularly
