Key West wedding

Our son and his fiancé started putting together a guest list for their wedding, when they hit 140 they realized it outsized our backyard. To make the crowd smaller they decided to get married at sunset on a sailboat off key West! Still want to do it in June but are concerned about heat so are looking at kids, nephew and niece availability earlier in the year.

Bottom line, looks like we get our Ket West trip this year! A chance of having to dry camp for a while on the Navy base won't work so we are considering Blue Water RV Resort, does anyone have input on it?

No doubt it will be hot, and the daily rains start in June.

Yes its great call in advance I just stayed there for a month, 11 miles from key west great bike riding along the highway and reserve a Oceanside site not the canal although the canal has a great fishing pier the pool is always warm its by the pier great coffee shop a mile or so north on the highway we rode our bikes there almost every day. all sites are great you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at Bluewater Key RV Resort for 5 nights back in 2012 when visiting Key West. it was everything we anticipated and expected for the cost. Our daily rate was $135 which was in January 2012 - Prime Time.

I have read reviews that suggest the dry camping area is actually a nicer view on the water than the main camp at Sigsbee, not withstanding having to move to the dump every third or fourth day.

It seems to me that you might be able to get in during the summer as opposed to the Winter. I'd call them. BTW, sounds like a really neat wedding.

Good idea to call the air station. We will likely be a home base for family and variable have up to 4 grandkids, 7-12, with us so it would probably be daily dump trips if we dry camp.

You could pick up one of those 35 gallon portables to pull to the dump site...sure would be cheaper than hotels in KW.

We camp at NAS Key West often. Matter of fact going right after Tampa RV show. If you go down there in June chances are you will get full hookups after one or two days wait at the most. So, if you went 2-3 days early, I think you'd be okay.

I think your problem will be getting non-DoD folks driving through the gate...that might be the biggest issue.

Yep. That's a problem. We stayed there with some non MIL guests. Maybe you can rent the Rec Center and bring many guests on, but I don't know the limit. Blue Water Key is fantastic.....albeit very expensive, and isolated. There's nada around it for about 10 miles. You could possibly stay at Boyd'ps but the spots are jam packed and I don't know about how many guests.
