Koni Shock Install
For those who installed their front shocks. Did you have to remove the bottom plate or just the bottom bolt going thru the shock? Any other advice would be appreciated.

Remove the shock bolt and just loosen the four 9/16 bolts on the mounting plate and the shock will slip right in.

Looks like it will be difficult to get a cheater bar in there. I'm guessing you will need to break all the bolts loose with a impact wrench?

After changing mine, an impact wrench is about the only way. I did a post on it somewhere. There is not enough ground clearance to use a cheater bar without a lift. The shocks take a 1 1/8 socket. I'll see if I can find the post with the instructions when I changed mine.
Found it. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/koni...ml#post3139934

This was the old shock number, but where I got my Koni's. There is a new and improved model now. The new shock number is in the post linked above.
Koni 90-2890

Question to any Anthem folks who have installed the above mentioned Koni 99B-3234. I asked "Big Mike" from Spartan at the Tampa RV show why their alter ego website (RVchassispart.com) suggests the older Koni shock 90-2890 instead of the 99B-3234. He said the newer one is not adjustable. Looking at the website the 99B-3234 doesn't appear to be adjustable but one of the reviewers said he loves it on his 17 Anthem. Does this newer shock ride okay without the adjustable rebound setting? I'd like to upgrade shocks but I'm confused on which Koni to buy. Here's the link to the one I was considering....

I have the the first version konis on my anthem. they have 3 settings.. I have them on the middle setting.. the shop that put them on for me tested it on softest and said it was too soft.. the middle setting is what most owners I found had them on.. although I gotta say on some of the freeway swells we go through it still seems "bouncy" and soft.. I actually have been tempted to go to the hardest setting to see how it rides.. all that being said.. I would say its nice to have these options of adjustments.. everybody has there version of a ride.. some might like soft and others may like stiff.. the NEW version of konis takes these options away.. so it seems big mike is right.. old ones are better to put on to have the options.. jmo

Dave, you probably saw the same post that I did where Ron said the Henderson Alignment said they were beefier shocks. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/koni...ml#post3170225
If I was making the decision, I would call Koni and ask their opinion. I did see a write up where Koni was saying it was their "new and improved" RV shocks. Google the shock number and it should come up.
Just me, but if I was going to install the shocks today, it would be the new and improved model, just to try them. I think there was a couple of posts past the linked post where those that had installed them liked them. That post as long as it was, turned out to be a very informative regarding ride, steering and fix posts by a lot of contributors..

We had a customer with a 2016 Anthem try the adjustable 90-2890 and 99B-3234 back to back. Even with trying all the different settings on the adjustable he said far and away the ride was much better with the 99B EVO shock. Most of that is due to the larger diameter piston and new valving design.

Thanks UltraRV. You answered my question. Sounds like the newer 99B EVO shock is what I need.

Jon, I have a 2016 Anthem: I've been given conflicting information regarding the lower mounting. Do I need the lower mounting kit or is the Koni EVO a direct bolt in ?
