I did the same thing once. Now I have one of these on the black flush inlet, so it will turn itself off and save me from a repeat performance.

Gary, you would be amazed at how much dark water, particles and especially bits of toilet paper it will flush out, all things that contribute to smells. The flush sprayer does not come close to spraying all surfaces of the black tank so it doesn’t have a chance to really get it clean. All JMHO

I close the black tank valve all the time when using the black tank flush (which by the way is 1 nozzle in the tank). Without closing the valve I know I would not get out half the additional (crap) vs leaving it open. I also set a timer on my phone so as not to forget about what I am doing.

Gary

Try refilling once. I bet that will become part of your normal dumping protocol. Beside getting your tank cleaner it also cleans out the discharge hose.

Gary

Only problem I’ve heard of was a person who thought they were hooking up there hose to the city water inlet but instead hooked it to the black flush instead. Turned it on and walked away. Apparently manufacturer didn’t label the 2 inlets! After a few futile attempts at cleaning and drying the interior , the unit was replaced. Not sure if insurance or manufacturer paid.

I have compiled my black tank procedure from a collection of ideas and procedures posted on various forums and YouTube videos. First, if you close the black valve while flushing there is a considerable risk of contamination. Water (contaminated) will go somewhere if you overfill the black tank. For the design where toilets are sealed, excess contaminated water will drain out the vents on the roof. YUCK.

Having said that, I do flush the tank with the black valve closed. I use a timer on my watch carefully double checking it is counting down. 5 minutes depending on the park's water supply will fill the tank between 25% and 40%. If for any reason, I do not have the watch, I do not leave the wet bay area. It is too easy to get distracted.

Turn Sani flush water on and wait about 1 minute. Gets "stuff" stirred up in tank.

Open Black Tank valve and drain the tank.

Close the Black Tank valve and wait about 1 minute. Wash the majority of residual "stuff" to the drain port.

Open Black Tank valve and drain the tank.

Now time to clean the tank - Close the Black Tank valve and wait 5 minutes. If the level is equal or more that it was when I started, I open the valve and drain the tank. If it is not, I let the filling continue for another 5 minutes or when the level is equal or more that it was at the start.

The Sani-Flush water is on while draining the tank as well. I typically repeat the process twice and never have issues with tank measurement level (knock on wood).

Funny, we have a 2018 45Y just like TXBart and we have the macerator drain line under the wet bay. I wonder if they changed or some are plumbed different than others. Much prefer this than have to mess with that door, can't beat gravity.

Our X is plumbed below the deck as well. BTW, how does one affix a clear segment to the outflow. I prefer to admire my discharge if possible.

Yes, in early 2018 they started putting the discharge under the wet bay, but had problems and went back to original design.

Plumbing under the coach is exposed to road hazards. My favorite is the ever common presence of recap tread from a trailer tire. Amazing how much damage can be done when driven over. On one occasion a tire piece Ripped the generator exhaust from the support hanger and managed to pull off the chrome tip end.

Running the sewer plumbing up through the sewer hose cabinet goes against common sense but it works. It may not seem so as the tubing in the macerator that enables leaving the grey tank open to drain is very small and hence slow. Our evening’s water usage is typically drained by morning. The only issue I have is draining the sewer hose preparing to leave. Doable, but requires a little patience and.the occasional times I have to run the pump when the park’s sewer connection is excessively high.

I agree about gravity. Never had any type of problem with the all-gravity slinky system in my 2013, yet I continually read of problems with the macerator setup in the later models. Those of you who’ve had both, is the new setup worth the trouble?

For me it is worth the trouble until something breaks or stops working. It is faster and easier to set up, faster to drain, faster to put away. A plus for me is that with an oversized garden hose attached I can drain to my septic tank.

Not when the trouble is the hose leaking or bursting. Because of early reported hose problems I very seldom use my macerator. Instead, I have an angled connection to the bottom sewer outlet with an adapter so I can use a Waste Master hose with cam lock connections. It's easier to hook up than the macerator and drains faster. I leave it connected when camped.
