Ladders on Corner Stones and Anthems

I know it's been talked about and other threads but I keep going back and forth whether I want to fix the ladder or an extendable.for those who have had the fixed ladder put on did the dealer or the factory do it? What was the cost? And would you do it again?

I followed my DH today when we took our Anthem and Ram over to our RV Tech to install the battery minder for the Ram. The back end of the Anthem really looks sharp ... makes quite a dramatic statement. I wouldn't want a ladder on there ... MHO.

X2...I like the look w/o the ladder. And, even tho full timing, I can find the space for a ladder underneath. JMHO

One of the ladies that use to be on the forum said it made her coach "look like a rock stars" without it....I agreed with her and bought a telescoping ladder. Is it more convenient....no, but I do like the looks. I get on the roof a couple of times a year, so getting the ladder out is not much of a problem. JMO

Saw this one at Dixie RV a few months back. Didn't look too bad, but I wouldn't want it.

As I have said before, I like(d) the ladder on my Aspire. The Cornerstone/Anthems are built with adequate backing for a permanent ladder. I do not think a one piece would work due to the size of the engine compartment opening, and the two piece is a pita. When I broached the ladder question for our new rig, I was told by none other than Tadd Jenkins that if I put a ladder on the Cornerstone I would go to "motor home hell" for desecrating a piece of art. I now have a telescoping ladder in the forward DS bay.

I wouldn't be without my ladder. I guess I will go to hell, but at least I won't fall and kill myself getting there. I think every RV should have a ladder for safety's sake. If it is so awful, why do they make the ladder standard on the Aspire?

I had my ladder installed at Lazydays for $800, which was highway robbery, but worth it to me. I am sure it could be done for $500 or so.

X3..... Like the lines and look of the coach without the ladder. I have the Werner "knockoff" of the Little Giant and have no problem with space. Use it as the A frame ladder for cleaning the windshield, windows, and slide toppers if needed, and the extension when having to get on the roof, which ain't often.

Well it seems most dont like the ladder attached. Where do you place the extendable ladder against the coach to get on top with out damaging the coach? When parked under pine trees I like to remove the needles before putting the slides in. Which is fairly often.

I use "pool noodles" to put on the ladder and lean it against the back of the coach when needing to get on the roof. BTW, the slides have slide topper awnings and pine needles just fall off as the slides retract

Between the slides, behind the rear vanity slide, on the back cap...just use pads or towel wrapped around the side runners of the ladder. As to falling, stability is enhanced by DW holding the ladder as I go up. I just don't buy that this is any more dangerous than going straight up on a rear exterior ladder (from my preoperative getting off at the top and getting back on is dangerous on either, and at least I have the extension going three feet higher than the attached ladder..for me that is easier). JMHO

I had slide toppers on my winnebago and have them on my tiffin pine needles seem to collect inside the metal covers

I may decide on price . It looks to me good extendable ladders run about$300 -$400. I am suposed to get a price on factory installed ladder tomorrow . Tiffin and winnebago offer the ladder as an option $2-$300 range.

I like the portable ladder since you need one anyway to clean windows etc. I use a Werner folding model stored on end against the compartment x-bracing. It's sturdy, but not as handy to get on the roof than a fixed rear ladder.
