I used #6. A lot depends on the connectors attached to the solar panels. Some won't accept #4 which seems like overkill to me.

I came down from the roof in behind the 1/2 bath cabinet by measuring from a point on the vent cover. Then over to the outside wall in behind the G5 panel and down to the basement from the sink cabinet. Depending on which model you choose there should be a way to get to the basement from the roof.
