Local channels again
I have another question about local channels. Couple weeks ago we were in NYC and got the local channels. East coast ABC, NBC,CBS, and FOX plus all NY locals. We're now 500 miles from NY and still have all those channels. My question is are they going to remain even though we never ordered East coast channels, just locals?

The NY and LA locals are the basis for the DirecTV DNS (Distant Network Services) channels that many RVers watch all across the country. It's my understanding that if those cities are your home location you will be able to receive those channels nationally without paying extra for them.

Well it wasn't my home city, but it may very well become the home city.

Did you possibly update your service address while you were in that region?
Could be you provided one of the magical/mythic addresses that grant you network channels forever!!

The magic address for me is - - - Port Royal Dr., Toms River NJ. 08757.
Although I no longer live there, that's been my service address since 2008 and I get the big 4 networks everywhere.

J.H it is not the first time I have heard of that happening. Happened to a TS owner friend of mine. Leave the address alone as long as possible

Yes, I did update the service address. That's how I got all the local channels. I have no intentions of changing the address unless they stop working. So far I'm getting the big four plus a dozen or so locals.

Gary, I don't see why you couldn't just call directv and give them Liberty Harbor Rv park address and get NY locals without actually being there. If they work when you leave looks like you could get them anytime.
