We have a '13 44 DLQ. While playing a DVD the sound will burst your ear drums when sounds like gun shots, car crushes or a bomb goes off, (sounds of today's action movies). Where is the surround sound located on the '13 44DLQ? Can the volume be set with limits? Or is my surround sound amp defective?

I have a 2014 DLQ and I can control the volume on/from the DVD player. When rearranging the equipment I did notice that all the speaker wires connect to the rear of the DVD player. Have you tried using the DVD remote to adjust the volume. If no remote try and locating the "+" or "-" symbols on the unit itself. Hope this helps!

I assume it is a Samsung. The amp and the DVD player are the same. See if you have or can get ahold via the Internet, of the instructions to the unit. It will show you how to adjust all of the speakers including the sub.

Are you referring to the sub woofer speaker? It might be located behind the couch. If it is a Bose system then the sub woofer will have a separate volume control on it which can be turned down.

No Bose in 2013, not sure exactly when Bose became standard.2016(?)

Thanks to all that responded. We had located the volume control on the remote and the player. Our problem is as the DVD is player an explosion or gun shot in the program material comes through the sound system at 3 or 4 times the "set volume" wakening up the dead around us! Is this normal for this Samsung DVD player or is our unit defective? If defective, where would we obtain a replacement? We would also like to play DISH TV program material through the 5.1 system if that is possible.

Again, each individual speaker can be adjusted including the sub. The control is to balance the system for the room so no one speaker overwhelms the others. I don’t remember the steps exactly (4 coaches ago) but it is in the instructions for the unit. If you don’t have instructions already, get the model number and find the instructions online. Yes you can run the dish programming through it by tying the dish box to the dvd aux connection in the back. Optical or rca cables, I don’t remember which

Bose was the standard in 2014.

Mine was one of the first and now that you mention it, there were a number of changes made later that year including the Bose and I think a larger outside tv. There were other changes as well.

There was an "up charge" of $3,700 with July placed orders. We ordered in Sept 13 and got hit with the up charge. The up charge was the switch to Bose, larger outside TV with Sony DVD players and sound player with large rectangle speakers. and a few other mid year upgrades.
If you have round speakers on the outside TV, it was before the switch to Bose. Rectangular speakers on the outside TV, all the 14 upgrades were included.
