Bill, thank you!! so much for your photo and explanation. I never would have thought to look there. I followed your photo and the factroy foam is only in the right hand corner as shown in the first photo taken where yours was.

I followed that to the outside and saw where the foam ended, photo #2, I can now see where the foam needs to be add which I need a spray can extension to reach.

I looked on the backside where someone else mentioned their tech sealed and it stopped the noise. There is also a large gap there that could also be causing wind noise Photo #3.

I also found additional holes that are not sealed that could be causing wind noise and whistles. For sure allowing water in that could start wood rot.

Thanks again for sharing such a valuable step for me to help eliminate my step well noise problem.

Hope that quiets things as much for you as it did mine. We now have that quiet ride promised by Entegra.

Chuck, where did you have to crawl into to get the pictures, how long of a hose does one need to reach the openings? Thanks for the pictures.

Dave, that gap is all the way at the top of the stairs, laying underneath the coach. I'll try to get pictures after the white foam is applied, they might show up better. It is a long reach with the jacks up to get under the MH. I won't jack it up as high tomorrow. You could fish a piece of wire from the gap under the stair well cover and see where it comes out on the back of the steps under the coach.

I'll know tomorrow how much of an extension I need, if any. I had some plastic tubing at home that fit the tube that comes with the spray foam perfect. I wanted to have that with me, just in case I needed it before I started.

Dave I used about a 20-24 inch piece of plastic tubing that fit the can of foam's nozzle. I taped the tubing to a 12 inch piece of 1/4 inch dowel so I could put it up inside of all of the step box seems. I foamed all three sides, front, back and rear side of the step box where it meets the floor. The front I did from inside by moving the step cover out enough that I could get my hand and the "wand" in there and took it slow.

The second photo is where the foam came out the back side after foaming it from the inside Do cover your steps as the foam is messy.

I foamed every nook and cranny that was associated with the steps in hopes that one of them was the noise culprit. One can of foam was plenty, I have about 1/2 can left. I used the "small space" foam at Walmart (red can GE brand) for less than $3.00 a can. That worked better than the rapid expand foam for larger spaces.

It is a MESSY job, do wear disposable gloves and a hat. DW is going to have to cut some of it out of my hair tonight

Thanks to you Bill. You are the one that solved the mystery. DW is cutting and pulling dried foam out of my hair right now, boy. does that hurt!! Hopefully mine
will be as quiet as your is now. On to the slight door wind noise now and I may have found that thanks to Ultratravler.

Bill, THANK YOU! Your tip worked! I road tested today and 85% of the step well noise is gone with the cover open and 100% with the cover closed. I did find a couple of large factory blobs of foam up front that had a few voids. I am going to trim those flush and fill the voids with foam and I'll bet the problem will be solved.

I did trim behind the step well cover making a nice tight fit when the step cover is closed. Thanks again Bill.

Chuck, very happy that it worked for you. We are very pleased with the results. It made a HUGE difference for us. Still don't know why Entegra continues to overlook this area for sealing.

I total agree Bill. With the number of people that are having the noise problems and the number of areas I (you) found that can cause wind noises are unbelievable. I still have a couple of more, but they are very minor and I think I know where they are.

It is hard to believe that Entegra is not foaming the entire step box under the coach, it would sure eliminate a lot of problems.

Just a thought, perhaps these write ups and pics would be a good thing to send to Entegra. I'd like to see it fixed before I go buy mine, lol.

Entegra does read these forums. I have been in contact.... and my MH has been sent back to the factroy. It is up to Entegra how they deal with these problems. I am not going to be real popular with the Entegra Loyalists, but I will continue to post my problems and fixes as I find them. It is up to the potential buyers to hopefully not go through what I have gone through.

It has been seven months since my purchase and I am waiting for the 3rd rear end to be installed.....no, I am not a real happy camper about now. We are now missing our 3rd planned trip while waiting for a repair.

My coach was sent back to Entegra with the problem of this post.....they ignored it....I posted what fixed my coach. Thanks to others with the problem and WE got it fixed.

As for the rear end comments, again get me a coach that works! or block me, end of problem. I have been more than patient for seven months with all the problems I have had with my delivery and still having, and those days are over.
