Lube work made easy.
There are some jobs I truly enjoy. There are a few I simply hate to contemplate as they are truly unpleasant. Until today, greasing the chassis fit firmly in the latter category.
First, thanks to Chuck for suggesting an ElCheapo Wal Mart grease gun. I got one and it really works surprisingly well.
My expensive NAPA bought POS will soon find a new home in the garbage.
In any event, I also bought an 18" hose extension at Tractor Supply and installed a Right Angle fitting on it. The 18" extension has a sliding sleeve that locks it into place on the grease gun hose. It didn't fall off even once.
I had planned to remove the right angle/extension hose assembly when not needed. However, having the extra length combined with the positive locking nature of the Right Angle grease fitting made things a breeze. I simply left the extension hose connected and hit the entire coach.
I no longer dread this chore.

Well greasing the coach and crawling around under the beast definitely falls in the latter category for me as well. I may give some passive thought to your system, it would be nice to be abler to easily get to some of the more important zerks, and may give that some thoughts from a distance......

Dumb question, but how do you get enough clearance under the chassis to reach every grease fitting?

Diet for a few days (weeks, months, years).

Actually, I simply aired up the coach and extended the jacks for extra insurance. I can pull the generator out and get the majority of my body into that cavity in case something bad happens.
I just crank the wheel hard right and grease one side, then hard left to get the other. This aids in accessing the kingpin and Control Arm pivot.
The rest is pretty straightforward.
Unfortunately I have a lot of experience at safely getting under this coach in a variety of circumstances. I always try to protect myself against the very worst thing happening.

Matt,
I agree completely.. if this makes it easier then I'm all for it. At 6'4" squeezing under the coach is the one chore I dislike. Houdini would have trouble getting to some of the zerks.
Where did you get the locking 90 degree fitting?

I actually have 3 grease guns I use. One is a Harbor Freight air gun and two from Walmart. One full sized hand squeeze gun instead of the clumsy pump gun, and the small version I carry to lube the U joints if I pass the 5,000 mile mark on a trip.

Here is the gun..
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lubrimati...-Hose/16777574
Here is the extension..
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...l?cm_vc=-10005
And the right angle coupler..
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...n?cm_vc=-10005
Take the straight couple off of the 18" hose and replace with the right angle coupler. On the grease gun, install the rubber hose with the straight coupler supplied with the gun. The extension hose has a sliding sleeve, so once you snap the extension onto the grease gun hose, you then slide the sleeve to lock it in place. Now go grease.
I don't like the price of the battery powered units, besides which Armstrong power never wears out. The air guns are nice, except you have an air hose you need to manage. In this case, I prefer simple, cheap, and easy.
With this system, I can wrap everything in a plastic bag and drop it in my bin of lube spares and it will be ready to go next time.
I hope this helps,
-Matt

Thanks for the links on the extensions Matt. That is the gun I found very comfortable to use. I use the air gun on the large grease holders where my hand gets tired pumping, then use the pump gun on ANYTHING with a rubber grease cup.
I saw there was a tractor supply up the road in Petowskey....guess what is on my stop list while we are here.

Sure would like to do this myself especially after reading the thread about how many of these grease zerks are like trying to find some rare archaeological piece and the shops not knowing about them. I have a phobia about being under a jacked vehicle (to the point of probably being unreasonable) so I guess it's not gonna happen.

Sid
That is probably a big reason that you are still in one piece, living merrily, and enjoying your coach.
My attitude is working under my coach is what someone invented a grease pit for, and now that the patent has expired, they are everywhere..... My process is: "Get em all boys.... here is my credit card."
Life is too short for trying to spend an hour under my coach greasing zerks....
