Magnets and Method for fixing HVAC vents (modification)

Sorry we can’t find the thread other than our own posts for the FIX for stripped screws and no wood left to screw into on HVAC vents for our

2018 44B Anthem

Please could someone help us with finding the thread or just telling us what magnets to buy and “how to” make this modification.

We have a kitchen area Vent that there is nothing to screw into any longer since the factory had screw going in at an angle and we wash our filters about every month for the past 3 years.

Thank you for any help!

Pat Bauer, president of Entegra Owners Association is the guy that published that thread.

I believe it was also in the really long and involved Owners Mod thread which had hundreds and hundreds of posts. That thread used to be a sticky at the top but now has fallen down into the mass of threads. If you do a search in the search box at the top of the page with "Entegra: air vents magnets bauer"
in the search string you will find it pretty quickly.

We had the same issue. Bought little round super magnets at Hobby Lobby. There are in quite a few different diameter sizes. Package of ten for $4 Super glued one on the vent cover and the other on the ceiling panel. Anywhere close will hold the cover up . Remember + to - to grab the cover.

It only takes one magnet on each corner of the vent cover. If you line the magnets up with the screws the magnet will attach to the screw.

That comes from owning a "Magic 8 Ball" when I was a kid. I kept asking it questions until I got the answer I wanted.

I have found the link very useful but still leaves the question of attaching metal to plastic successfully.
Six months ago my first vent dropped and I thought I was on a ROUGH road. About two months later, two more vents dropped. I re-glued with some JB Weld, it appears the project I used what the best for high temperatures. (the coach sets vacant without electricity during the summer)
A little history the previous owner had problems and would repairs with a date and one word glue name. On her and my failures it is the magnet that comes clean.
Is there new products on the market. Years ago I purchased an automotive adhesive that did wonders when nothing held. Has anyone tried something like this?

One thing I had to do was score the area where the magnets are glued. You need something for the glue to bite into. I've used both a knife and a dremel tool.

Later...

Yes, that worked for me although I also scored the face of the magnet with rough sandpaper.
