Middlebury in February?

I have warranty service scheduled for middle of February at the Entegra Service Center and was wondering how are the driving conditions this time of year. We will be leaving from Orlando, Florida. I have a service at Spartan scheduled immediately after.

I was wondering if I should try to reschedule for April.

Thanks,

Gary

I wanted May or April. March was latest spring date I could get, that was a month ago.

Gary,

Here along the Great Lakes any time between Thanksgiving and the middle of April is a bit of a crap shoot. You could be driving in sunny 60 degree weather or you could be wondering where the heck the road went in the middle of a white out. Northern Indiana shouldn't be too bad but Central Michigan could be another story with the wind coming off Lake Michigan. If you rescheduled for April you would stand a better chance of not having any weather related issues.

When my 14 was ready to ship in February it was 33 below. I had a 3 week delay due to weather and roads closed. Anything is possible that time of year. On the positive side there are no crowds

Middlebury in February?

We were there in late March last year and had some light snow and freezing weather. Definitely plan for cold weather ops but hope for the best. The good news is you’ll be toasty warm with the great insulation and aquahot. If the forecast calls for snow, recommend pulling your slides in the night before. Since Techs start way early, you could be out with a hair dryer, on a ladder in snow, in the dark trying to thaw your awnings so they will close. Alternatively, you could drop your coach and fly/drive to warm weather or take a cruise. And like Chuck mentioned, no crowds[emoji1]

Historically it will be well below freezing in the morning hours and if you are lucky 40’s or so during the day. But that can all change and be in the 50’s or 2 feet of snow. Kind of like Florida, but the reverse extreme.

You're right, there is no positive side of -33, I would be part of the no crowd.

We were in Middlebury and Charlotte in mid January for service. We were the only customer at each facility. The coach performed beautifully--warm and comfortable on the inside. However, the exterior was as dirty as any coach I have ever owned and salt was everywhere.

When I returned home, I spent several hours with my power washer trying to get the salt off the underside. I thought I was successful but several months later I began to find rust and corrosion in too many places. I hope the undercoating protects the area I can't get to under the coach.

We live about 2 hours east of the factory. During that time of year watch the weather closely and travel when the best conditions exist. In other words leave early and plan to arrive early to avoid travel issues, don't schedule yourselves to get there the day before service. Spartan can usually work around the weather related issues as they aren't as busy this time of year. Typically there are open spots in the parking area so arriving early shouldn't be an issue at Entegra or Spartan.

As other have stated the weather is variable could be warm (over 32) or could be cold (-20).

Apparently the "can only schedule six months out" is off again? I sure hope so.

In June all the fun stores in Shipshewana will be open again. They close in the winter and most of the owners spend the winter in FL.

They changed scheduling to as far as a year in the future. When I was there in May I scheduled for May 2019.
