Motorhome weight

Anyone with an Anthem 44dlq should have their motorhome weighed. We had ours weighed at Spartan and the steer axle and the tag axle were both overweight, even though we have the 16,600 steer axle. Spartan installed a new porportioning valve to redistribute the weight from the tag to the drive axle. They also upgraded the steer axle to 17,000 lbs. We are suggesting this since we know some do carry more weight than we do. Also the rear axle u-bolts should be retorqued at 5000 miles per Spartan. Noel

Noel - did you communicate this information to Entegra?

Regardless of what they say , you need to have it weighed for your own safety and satisfaction. Noel

Noel, I agree but unfortunately my coach won't be delivered until January. My feeling is that if they know there is a potential weight distribution problem, they can start taking corrective action on coaches yet to be built. I would be happy just knowing they are aware of the issue and that they are taking appropriate action. Thank you for bringing this potential problem to our attention.

This concerns me as I am considering putting a Mighty Hauler (or similar) on the tail to haul the MC. Probably an addition of 750 lbs for the bike plus the hauler. Any Entegra owners using this setup out there and does this weight adjustment or something similar apply???

That will take weight off the front axle.
But may add over 1,200 to the rear axle/tag. :(

Tag only has a 12,000 lb GAWR

Noel, is all well now with your coach (besides the axle weight issue which sounds like Spartan fixed)? When we met you a week ago at Middlebury we hoped the following week would be a good one!

The tag axle is 10,000 lbs and you still have 30,000 lbs between the drive and tag axle. At the present time the distribution valve is putting too much weight on the tag axle, which by the fulcrum effect puts too much weight on the front axle. The tag is 10,000, not 12,000.

some of the newer models have a tag capacity of 12,000, most are only 10K.

New 2013 tag is 12K NOT 10K.
So they will have 32,000 lbs between the drive and tag axle.

The OP didn't say what year his 44 DLQ was, but Tom & Regina are getting a 2013 Anthem coach.

All 2013 Anthem models have a 12,000 lb Tag. Check the PDF for Info.

We just left the Spartan factory and we were told our tag axle was 10,000lbs. We have a 2013 anthem 44 DLQ. I will check with Spartan to confirm. We hope 12,000 is correct. Noel

Weight

I'll have to back up. The info Spartan originally gave me was wrong. The tag is indeed 12000 lb., but I would still have the motorhome weighed especially if it's a 44dlq or sl. Noel
