MPPT controller thinks the batteries are always at float
I have about 600 watts of solar ( 200 factory and 400 aftermarket) that comes down into a Victron MPPT 100/50. I have 4 factory installed AGMs. All has been well for almost a year. About 3 months ago I scraped a concrete post and damaged the water cargo bay door and the door in front of it. Now I can't get to where all the cut off switches are. I am going to the factory in Sept to get the body fixed.
After the accident, the solar did work. I used it for a few days parked in a casino parking lot. It has been sitting at the house since then, plugged into a 30 amp pedestal. I took it out 2 weeks ago and noticed that the Victron app said I was pulling 0 watts and that the volts was 19.2. It said the battery was at float and 13.6. I let the batteries run down to about 12.2 and the Victron still says the batteries are at float and 19.2 and 13.6. I had a mechanic check the actual volts coming down from the panels and he said it was 18 something which is OK. I disconnected the main wires going into the MPPT and it then went to bulk for about 1 minute, went to absorption and then back to float within about 3 minutes.
I can't get to all the shut off switches due to the door issue.
I have a shunt inside the battery box that the inverter?? is connected to? I took them off to see if the MPPT would do anything but it did not.
Has anyone seen this type of thing? Can anyone think why the MPPT is getting that false information that the battery is at float? I think that is why it is not drawing down any wattage from the solar.
Any advise would be appreciated.
