I have a brand new set of Michelin's on my PU truck. Wouldn't you know it, first week I picked up a screw in the center of the tread. They have road hazard through Costco and they did patch it. Maybe it's one of those situations to leave it up to the Michelin dealer. Shellback is correct, too close to the side and it cannot be repaired as stated by Costco tire dept.

If the tire isn't old I would patch it from the inside. Never ever ever from the outside!

I don't remember seeing real tire replacement coverage from CoachNet. Tell me more as I have Coachnet Coverage now.

I had a VERY BAD experience with GoodSam Roadservice where I thought that I had tire coverage, but then found out that all that really means is that they will mount an already inflated spare that you are carrying with you (who does that???). They will NOT fix or repair, they will not mount an uninflated tire, etc. My tire (inner dual) had lost its bead, most likely due to a stem and tire pressure monitoring system that was improperly placed. So, I had to agree to buy a new tire ($650 and it was not a match for my matched tires on the coach, and it was a mismatch on the drive axle (which many people consider a real No No). Well, after agreeing to buy the tire, and having the tech mount the new tire and air it up, we inspected the tire and found no problems. Then I took it to a national truck tire company and had them air up the "bad" tire with 100 # pressure and let it sit for 3 days, and no loss of pressure. So I was out about $700 for nothing and had new replacement that should never have been put on the drive axle with other mismatched tires. I was furious and the company could have cared less.

So, I had a Very BAD experience with roadside coverage and GoodSam Tire Service. If you end up getting a new tire paid for by CoachNet, I am VERY INTERESTED in the coverage you have. Please keep us informed! Is this extra coverage? How much does it cost roughly? Since your coach was new, is this coverage you got from Entegra or something that you arranged on your own?

Now, on your question, if it is only a nail (I know now that it was a bolt) and not in the side wall, then I would definitely have had the tire repaired (inside patch) especially if it was on a tag axle..... Thousands of semi truck tires are repaired with inside patches and carry a lot more weight than our heavy beasts carry.....

Coach Net paid for the service call and scheduled it for us. Total service call cost was $205.00. We bought Tire Re-Nu when we bought the coach. They are the ones that are paying for the tire, balancing, valve stem and labor - total $1,056.26. Tire Re-Nu cost us a little over $800 for 5 years of coverage, no deductible and no "prorating" of tread. So, well worth every penny. Bottom line, between Coach net and Tire Re-Nu .... our new Michelin tire didn't cost us anything but time and aggravation. Was very impressed with Coach Net and Tire Re-Nu.

Nice going on the tire insurance and coverage.

Gary, I don't rely in any road service programs to cover tires outside of what you experienced. If you are in a location where there is a large truck tires service company such as Wingfoot or Boulevard Tire, they are equipped to handle our type of tires and usually have a correct tire is stock. They are equipped to do a roadside repair and inspect the tire on site. I hate to hear stories like yours.

I got a nail in my tire driving from Florida to NY. The tire service that came and repaired the tire told me if it was night time he would have had to replace the tire by law. That they can't inspect the tire for any wear and if the tire were to fail they are responsible.

This is what can happen if you don't replace the tire. Had it patched January 2. Took the coach over to my nephews garage to put on my safe t plus today. Pulled in and saw the flat. Could not fill it pulled the tire and saw the side wall blowout.

Why blame Coach Net for your not understanding the contract? And what company "could have cared less"? CoachNet, the company that sold you the tire or the National company where you had old tire aired up?
CoachNet brochures, contracts and web site are specific about the coverage, or at least they were when we bought our policy.
