I have this model portable Surge Guard from Camping and it works great. It has a digital display so you can tell what's going on. It has already saved my bacon as there was a pedestal that had low power. I also have the 3 year replacement for a few extra dollars.

I figure if it fails, its never going to be at the most convenient place or weather and I don't want to have to try and replace myself if hard mounted or have to call someone (on a weekend most likely) when I can just go get another and I'm back in business.

The bottom line is it doesn't matter which one you get but I would get something; its money well spent in my opinion.

You may have just been lucky for the simply reason of not traveling to numerous types of RV Parks around the country. Maybe you only go to a few local ones, I don't know.

However, I hope you realize that when your rig takes a direct lighting strike none of the power protection devices that get discussed here on iRV2.com will protect your rig.

It is only for errant power problems caused by either the power company or the RV Park.
